Maximus IX Formula and GSKILL Trident-Z 4000 XMP

Hello there,

I am running the following configuration and have been unable to get the XMP profile to work:

ASUS Maximus IX Formula
I7700k + AIO (360 radiator)
4*8 F4-4000C18Q-32GTZSW
2x EVGA 980ti Hybrid
XFX Pro 1250w
Win10

Error Codes 49/55

I have adjusted DRAM voltage, DRAM current capability etc. Has anyone gotten the 4000mhz XMP profile to work and if so what were your settings?

Hi coastalgerman

Try setting your ram manaully and raising the cpu system agent voltage and cpu vccio voltage.

cpu system agent voltage - Anywhere from 1.15v up to 1.30v.
cpu vccio voltage - Anywhere from 1.15v up to 1.25v.

You can take the Dram voltage to 1.40v if those two don't help.

Thank you for your response Nate. I got it to boot!

DRAM Voltage=1.38v
cpu system agent voltage=1.2375v
cpu vccio voltage=1.2375v
DRAM Current Capability = 100%
DRAM Phase = Extreme
Maximus Tweak = Auto

Do you see any issues with these settings? What does the current cap actually do

The current capability allows the Dram to draw more current if needed, you should only need to use this when overclocking your ram.

It looks great with the settings you have nice going. 🙂

You can play with the Maximus Tweak modes to see if you can run with lower voltages.

Tweak mode 1 helps with compatibility
Tweak mode 2 helps with overclocking

So here is where i am at:

The system will boot to O/S and allow me to play games, however stability seems to be random. The other day I was playing ME:Andromeda for hours and now I am getting CTD's without error message at random intervals. That has been going on for the past couple of days and is not just limited to ME:Andromeda but also to Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

To make things more complicated...i replaced the 980ti SLIs with a 1080ti. All I can say is that it's not CPU or GPU temperature related, those are within normal range.

It sounds like you're on the edge of stability, you may need a little more SA, IO and Dram voltage for complete stability.

If you're overclocking your 1080 Ti set it to defaults for now.

My G skill ram was set to 1.2 v on auto, but then ihad to use XMP profile before they worked.
Now i see they are using 1.35 V

I have g skill trident z ram 3866 and i cant get it to run at 3866mhz i have it running at 3600mhz with 7700k cpu. I am on bios 0801. I didnt update to 0906 cause some people were reporting it to be worse than 0801

Hi LeeRock,

I have the 7700k, Maximus Formula IX, 32GB GKill Trident F4-3866C18-8GTZR, GTX 1080. EK 360 Water Cooling for CPU and Mobo chipset.

I've been running the stable speeds below
- CPU 5080mhz
- RAM 3963mkz

With the below settings

BIOS 0906

DRAM
- timings - Mode 2
- DRAM set to XMP
- DRAM voltages set to 1.35 by XMP
- All others voltages set to Auto

CPU
- CPU Ratios all set to 50
- CPU Cache set to 50
- CPU BCLK set to 101.50
- CPU Voltages set to auto
CPU SVID Support - Disabled

Uncore
CPU Core/Cache Current Limit Max - 255
Min. CPU Cache Ratio - 48
Max. CPU Cache Ratio - 50

Power
Set IA DC Load Line to 0.01
Set IA AC Load Line to 0.01
- C States disabled

Digi+ options
- CPU and DRAM voltage to 130-140%
- All settings where applicable set to Extreme.

Fan settings
- My CPU fan is set at 50% minimum and then a steep curve to 90C.

At 100% CPU load the above still gets to 90degrees C, CPU rarely runs past 50% gaming though. So watch your heat with the above settings if your really pounding your machine for a while.
