How to make cpu better idle ? Bios options ?

Hi

I have the kaba lake i7 7700k with maximus ix asus formula mobo
and i havent overclocked anything beside the original boost modes it uses going to 4.5 from 4.2 Ghz

Then i configured my pc so the cpu only goes up to full speed when im using the pc and then it idles down when im afk 🙂

But in cpu z i can see the cpu speed (mhz) is jumping up and down, even if i dont use the pc..mostly it shows 4500 mhz but it also changes to lower values only for seconds until it jumps to 4500 again..its like the cpu dosent want to relax 😄

I remember my old pc was more relased on lower speeds in this same idle mode..

Is there a way to make the cpu idle better at lower mhz ?
I remember something with turning c states or load line options in bios on or off..

My pc works great but i just wanted a stable idle load than this mexican jumping beam syndrome my cpu has

The power plan in win 10 is set to balanced and idle cpu 5% and load 100 %

Bios settings is mostly set to auto

Cpu C - state Enabled
EPU power save mode Disabled
Cpu Loadline calibration Auto
Intel Speedstep Auto

Its something with these options right ?

Hi Psycrow

Check in the Task Manager, processes tab to see what is putting a load on your cpu at idle, each process will show how much load it's putting on the cpu.

Don't end the processes if you don't know what they're for, it could make your pc unstable or stop working.

Hmm i looked in the task manager and everything looks fine..the cpu load graph dident show any high loads..and it shows 8-14 % cpu load

The only 2 prgrams that used around 4% cpu is corair LINK and this Aura app from asus..It dosent seems like theer is any active programs that
makes my cpu jump like this..It shows 4500 mhz then 4200 mhz then 2200 ish mhz and back to 4500 mhz all with in 3 seconds..its more under load than idle, but the temps looks fine..remember i told you my temp stats 🙂

8%-14% load is enough to ramp up the cpu, nothing you can really do but end the processes.

It's normal what you're seeing.

Ok..i just comparing my old pc it was better to make idle loads stay low..it only ramped up when i was playing games or watching movies 🙂
It was the sandy bridge formula rampage IV mobo

Btw how can i controle bios in windows ?

yeah no Aura to use the cpu on the Rampage IV.

You can control some bios settings in windows with AI Suite but I personally don't use it, be sure you have the latest MEI driver installed if you plan on using AI Suite.

Ok thx...hmm i ran the suite but it looked confusing and i dident like it..i think it changed the cpu volt mode...Shoul di leave the cpu voltage to manual or auto or adaptive or offset mode ? I cant remember what i use to have..what is best ?
