This board is built for a custom water cooling loop. This will require fitting's, tubing, radiator, pump, reservoir and gpu block if you want to add the gpu into the mix. There is quite a bit of planning involved in building a custom loop IE: getting components that will fit properly in your case and then plumbing the whole thing. If you truly are interested in a custom loop I suggest looking up Jayztwocents on youtube. Also one thing I missed during this process is your gpu should be reference or have a specific block made for the exact custom pcb.

I have a custom loop on my maximus IX hero.

Here is a random google image search of something like what you'll end up with

edit: if you are working with a budget you will get more bang for your buck out of an AIO cooler on a maximus IX hero and put the money into a better gpu cpu ram or ssd. Custom water gives you a quieter pc, looks better, and has more overclocking potential. In my case I could have got a better gpu for the money I spent, or better ram. But I wanted to build a machine for tweaking and looking cool AF in the process so my budget had a custom loop in it.

It seems that the new Maximus Extreme board was designed specifically for watercooling...
Watercooling is fun, but can be expensive...
If you're not prepared for that ^^^, then get a board which will work with more classical coolers...
The Maximus IX Code is a really good looking and good performer board... and you can choose your cooler (air, aio water or custom water)...

The custom monoblock packaged with the Extreme still requires you to source all the necessary components one would need for a custom loop besides the monoblock itself.

Given you felt the need to ask, I'd recommend you opt for one of the other boards for this venture as suggested above.

ASUS should explain better on the site that more
Parts are needed.

I couldn't agree more. I'm new to custom water cooling but not new to the internet so was researching this for over a week before I finally found this. it's unbelievable to me that the additional requirements are not mentioned and there is no mention at all on any video review I could find.

A little research goes a long way. When you see a water block that's all that is needed to inform you that you need a water cooling loop to feed that block.
