Were your profiles saved on the 1010 BIOS? Because profiles only work for the version of the BIOS that they were saved on. 🙂

Of course, I previously pointed out that the profile is created on the same BIOS version.

I'm aware that Asus for so many years could not remove this limited. referring to the fact that in different versions of the BIOS there may be different params, but this is a fairy tale for not very smart people. it all depends on how to write the code.... so it's a matter of laziness and not technical difficulties.

Is it the general consensus that this BIOS version (1009) is the most stable? I am thinking of updating my Maximum Hero from 0701 to 1009 before I start to try and overclock my i7-7700k.

So I'm still on 0906 on my Maximus IX Hero purchased late May. My post history has the problems I've experienced with getting my Trident DDR4-3600 RAM to work properly. It's advertised as 15-15-15-35 but I've only been able to get it to work at slower timings at higher speeds (up to 3800-3900 IIRC). Right now it's at 3600 at 15-16-16-36, and I've decided to live with it.

However, I have this strange issue that during some graphically intense applications, particularly playing videos, I get stutters/hiccups. Every 30-60 seconds it pauses like it's about to BSOD, but doesn't BSOD. This happens during gaming much more rarely so I've been able to live with it.

Keeping Google Chrome open in the background completely alleviates the issue. Which is really weird.

The computer will BSOD if I accidentally open like 30 videos in VLC as I've done once or twice when trying to move them around. It's also BSOD once or twice over the past few months when I've been running multiple demanding videos (2k-4k resolution) while doing intensive disk operations on my slow storage HD.

It's never crashed during a game and runs games along with Spotify/Chrome all at once like normal.

I think it's a problem with the motherboard's memory timings still.

I think 1009 is still a risky proposition considering my system is still mostly stable even at a 5.1 GHz overclock (downclocks to 5.0 at pretty good voltage/temps when it hits over 80 C since to go from 5.0 to 5.1 requires a jump in voltage).

Taking off CPU overclock entirely did nothing for the weird sound/video hiccup thing.

My system did pass memory test at its current settings (See post history). I don't have the time to start all the testing/trial and error stuff again, just going to keep an eye out for future updates that potentially fix the ignored XMP issue, which might be worth investigating.

Never buying an Asus motherboard again. The boards might be nice but whoever does the BIOS for these things should lose their job. I'd never survive at my job if I displayed that level of incompetence and apathy.

Is the Z270 now EOL or is some new Bios comming?

As per this thread:

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?91935-Maximus-IX-HERO-QVL-RAM-issue

an updated bios could provide better support for high-density memory modules (16GB DIMMS).

i update to 7700k and i have your issues but not to 90C most is always idle in 30/35. i got a 10C increment in temps across the board my pump fail and add a basic cooler and same. on my 6700k my idle temps around 25c and spikes on temps. at least was not my pump. i have no idea what is going on. i am trying to get another board just to check (another brand) so i can discard mine. also some issues with aura and gpu tweak. could be a driver? or the new windows? no idea.
