Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with my Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard where certain RAM slots don't seem to be working properly. I bought it from second hand and the guy said to me he used it with 2 RAMs. I know he didn't sell me crap product.
I recently moved my existing components from an older setup into this new motherboard:
CPU: Intel i7-6700K
GPU: MSI GTX 1080 FTW
RAM: G.Skill Aegis 2x8GB (F4-3000C16D-16GISB)
The system only boots when a single RAM stick is installed in slot A2. If I place a single stick in A1, B1, or B2, the system fails to boot — no display, no post just 55 code.
I've tried:
Clearing CMOS
Reseating the CPU and RAM
Checking for bent pins in the CPU socket (none visible)
Testing each stick individually (both work fine in A2)
Has anyone experienced this kind of issue before? Is it possible the board is defective, or could this be something related to CPU socket pin alignment or memory controller issues?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello Macsai
Do you know if the motherboard was updated to the latest bios, version 1301?

Thank you
So, we know both memory sticks work.
Try this:
1) Shut down your pc and unplug the power supply cable.
2) Install the 2nd stick of memory in the B2 slot (4th slot from the cpu).
3) Press and hold the clear cmos button for 3 seconds.
4) Start your pc.
How does this go?

I dont understand how it can help for me..
I can replace the RAMs in A2, cause both of them are working fine.. If I want to use it in A2+B2 it didnt POST bios or anything, just get 55 code..

Hi @Macsai
That system is fairly old. Remove the CPU and reseat in the socket. Do a quick inspection whilst there and remount the cooler.

Hey!
I rebuilt everything yesterday and it didn’t solve my problem. I reseat the cpu 3 times, I tried not put the VGA in it, maybe the DIMMS dont get enough Voltage..
I tried everything..

It's possible the 6700K memory controller could be struggling.
Try this:
1) Shut down your pc and unplug the power supply cable.
2) Install 1 memory stick in the A2 slot.
3) Boot up and enter the bios.
4) Go to the Ai Tweaker page.
5) Set Dram voltage to 1.40v
6) Set CPU System Agent voltage to 1.25v.
7) Set CPU VCCIO voltage to 1.25v.
8: Hit F10 and Enter to save and exit.
9) After it boots up, shut down your pc and unplug the power supply cable.
10) Install the 2nd stick of memory in the B2 slot (4th slot from the cpu).
11) Start up your pc.
Any luck booting with 2 sticks?
