I have 3000 XMP memory but running on standard... 6700k Hero board

Is there any advantage of using the XMP profile? Will PC run quicker etc?

Hi spluff

At default settings your ram is running at 2133MHz. XMP sets your ram to its rated specs with the click of a button, you can use XMP or set your ram manually.

I'm guessing you spent extra money to buy RAM rated for that speed so it's silly not to use it. It might have been better to ask if faster ram is worth it before purchasing but since you've already got the sticks you might as well run them at full speed.

Memory above 2133MHz is considered an overclock on this platform.
Intel i9 10850K@ 5.3GHz
ASUS ROG Strix Z490-E
Corsair H115i Pro XT
G.Skill TridentZ@ 3600MHz CL14 2x16GB
EVGA RTX 3090 Ti FWT3 Ultra
OS: WD Black SN850 1TB NVMe M.2
Storage: WD Blue SN550 2TB NVMe M.2
EVGA SuperNova 1200 P2
ASUS ROG Strix Helios GX601

so its just overclocking the memory not the processor by using xmp?

Yes give it a try with XMP, if it gives you any problems you can try it manually and raising vccio and cpu system agent voltages a little.

You'll gain anywhere from 1-3 Frames per second going from 2133MHz to 3000MHz and could help feel a little snappier.
