Utilities software versions - DVD vs. download

Greetings. I always try to download the most current drivers and utilities for a motherboard before installation so I have them. I am new to ROG (but not Asus) and want to make sure I am reading the version number of utilities I have on this Maximus VIII Hero disc vs. the download. correctly

For example, according to the folder name, the AI 3 suite on my disc is version 1.02.18 while the download version for the Hero is older? Version 1.01.24? That doesn't make sense to me so wonder if I am reading things right. The suite seems to run as a "front-end" to a lot of the utilities. And I see some utilities on the download site are offered separately. So just looking for the best approach.

I'll just use the download versions for the audio, Intel management utility, and LAN. But wondering the best approach for the multiple "Utility" downloads. I probably won't use all that stuff but just wanted to run them and check them out. I also don't know how selective the disc is on what it installs.

Thanks for any thoughts,

You have options on what to install using the included disk, it is really a good way to install the drivers

Thanks to both for your help. Menthol, good to know it gives you options on what to install. Perhaps it also provides version numbers also?

When you get to the Window to select the utilities, the version number for each program is displayed on screen. 🙂
