Todays ASUS Maximus VIII GENE BIOS update version 0907 not for Windows 10 64 bit?

I always understood a Bios for a motherboard was 1 single thing, sorry if that was a dumb assumption, had no idea each OS would have a different BIOS .

Can anyone explain why the 7 other OS's would get a BIOS update but the newest/best Windows 10 64bit doesn't need it?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, this is all new to me.

Hello neiljwd

A bios update is what you do to the motherboard not the operating system. Any bios version for your motherboard will work with windows 10.

It's recommended to update the motherboard bios only if you're having performance or compatibility issues.

That's more in line with what I thought, glad I'm not a total idiot. Thanks.
The 907 driver has increased compatibility for Samsung m.2 drives, which I'll be getting, so think I'll update my Bios to it despite the warnings.

I would not recommend 0907, drastically increases CPU voltage to dangerously high levels 1.55 for me. Went back down to 0902.
