It starts in tray bar, but configuration window won't open. I'm gonna try newer version I found on the Internet.

EDIT: Nope, neither them work. Bummer.
EDIT2: This one work: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/audio/Realtek_Audio_Win7-81-10_V6017629_Sonic_2216.zip?_ga=1.1...

Thanks for the feedback. I am one step close to take these board back to the box and store it since I can not exchange it, since the dealer there say that works perfect. A part of having spikes in VRM temps and PCH for my first build in years has being a nightmare. I AM TOTALY upset with the brand. and these is my 3 windows fresh installation so far and no one to help here in Panama. I will grab another board today since I can not play anything.*

No problem, now that I check mine it also says 0ohm for some reason I thought i said 39ohm so it isn't working on my either so that driver I provided was not the right one. (I should probably delete that post)

Asus needs to update so sad that we have to search for fixes when they already have one. I am personally taking back my board back just cause I want to update to the x99. but to be honest I havent found a better 170 chipset than the Maximums Hero keeps my 6700k very stable at low voltage I tested a few boards from a few brands and Asus was the best. One board I didnt try that looks amazing is The Sabertooth both versions look real good, but once Asus releases the fix for the audio this will be a solid board.

I just bought the ASUS Maximus VIII Hero because of its claims of great onboard audio. I experienced every problem mentioned in this thread; the endless uninstall/reboot loop and Sonic Studio GUI not launching. I've read 15 pages of this thread and I'm still not sure what to do to make it work. I want to output 7.1 to my receiver via the optical output. I'm wondering now if it's even possible. 😞

After hours of struggling, I have managed to get the V7904 driver package from the Rampage MOBO page and now I am able to launch Sonic Studio II. Then my heart sinks as it says "Sonic Studio does not support the current default audio device." I am using the Maximus Hero VIII optical output, the Realtek device is called "Realtek Digital Output." I want to send 7.1 sound to my receiver/amplifier surround sound system. How can I do this? The Supreme FX software only lets me select 5.1 output for the optical device, and it sounds terrible, with none of the features offered in Sonic Studio.

Thanks,
Jason

Funny how the exactly same package was posted for HERO VIII as well. Sux to be you, I guess. Word of advise: educate yourself before you start spreading bull****.

Ok man have a great day, just trying to trouble shoot a problem I had on a forum (i didnt write the software just trying to find a solution to a problem until a fix was released maybe the driver worked for someone else) Hope your build works out. Asus already posted updated drivers. lol...

Confirmed new driver finally works for me HOWEVER when I started the install process it kept uninstalling - reboot and cycling . In the end stopped process , uninstalled Realtek drivers , control panel and uninstalled drivers and then rolled back to MS audio . After a reboot driver then installed normally .
Hopefully this may save you 20 mins I lost while figuring it out 😛

You can get sonic studio working perfectly fine. Uninstall all drivers , Install realtek drivers without using the ASUS installer, use the other setup package , ensure that your input and output devices are set to microphone and speakers, not digital output or hdmi out, install the Asus supplied HI-Fi drivers as per normal -ta da everything works as intended, it seems that the realtek drivers being installed in silent mode wont tell you any of this but if you install them yourself and then install the asus driver with it set to digital audio or to hdmi audio out by default they give you no message , installing as above gives you the message "the current audio device is not supported by sonic" and if you havent corrected the output and input devices by now you can still fix it by setting things to mic and speakers.

Have fun all hope this helps. BTW sound quality is incredible even with a crappy set of creative stereo speakers.
