Sonic Studio won't open in WIndows 10 v1607

Hi all...

Was running a Formula VIII on Bios 1902.

Went to install the latest Sonic Studio update from ASUS yesterday and pretty much experienced the exact same issues posted earlier in this thread - ie Sonic Studio not opening in the latest Win 10 (Anniversary update installed last Friday).

I tried multiple times and also managed to have the software installation process get stuck in a loop whereby the installer would proceed to remove the older driver the ask to reboot. Upon rebooting the installer would re-run but instead of proceeding to install the new software it would try to remove it again and then ask me to reboot - this process would go on and on until I pressed cancel to stop...!

One other thing I noted (which may or may not be related) is that my PC would now sometimes just hang on the reboot stage (Q-Code 99) and just sit there. I did not have any booting issues previous to this so this is a bit odd that it happens right when I'm trying to install the latest audio package. Maybe its just coincidence so I'm not really sure if it has something to do with the latest bios or not...



Finally to get it installed - I actually rolled back to my previous bios (1701) and proceeded to install the very first Sonic Studio driver package listed on the ASUS site (v60176299 - Sonic Studio v2216).

This installed fine and seemed to work A-OK. I then simply ran the latest Sonic Studio update package (v7829_20160630) and that installed ok. Surprise in that it now sort of worked OK. I say sort of as I ended up with Realtek driver v6.0.1.7836 but Sonic Studio v2216 (not the latest).

Not sure if it is related to the bios update or not but I tried the same process (and a few other manual attempts at driver removal etc) and simply could not get it to work with Bios v1902 on my Formula VIII board.

So for now I'll stick to bios v1701 on my Formula VIII as it seems OK with this configuration....!

That installation loop is "great" functionality of Windows 10. When it detects missing drivers it will automatically install those on WU. The trick is to start installation of new drivers before system does.

For those still struggling with windows updating drivers automatically, which is what puts you in the loop with Realtek uninstalling the driver only to ask you to uninstall it again after reboot...

Follow these steps to turn that feature of windows off.

If the above doesn't work for you as it did not work for me, then you have to manually edit the registry to disable that feature within windows.

same issue with my RVE10 board with new 1607 windows 10 build.

Sonic studio and Supreme Fx-Hi DAC software does not work at all.
while realtek does gives spund without sonic studio interface but supreme Hi-fi DAC does not work at all.
What can one expect with beta drivers for supreme fx Hi -fi

I dont think asus does testing with new OS builds unless user reports issues.

I did raise a ticket in asus tech support site and they have assured that they will escalate this to driver team as every other member in ROG forum reporting issues.

In addition to performing this

1. Start group policy editor and navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative templates > System > Device Installation > Device Installation Restrictions.

(a) Disable "Prevent installation of devices not described by other policy settings"

After this restart the system,
Completely removed the drivers.
Reinstalled drivers and its sonic studio 2 is working without any issues.

However it did not solve the other problem with SupremeFx Hi-Fi DAC software which i believe due to the fact that USB based sound,
Somehow leading to some other kind of policy issue blocking this software properly register. not entirely sure though.
There is another policy mentioned some internet site that treats USB removable devices
"Allow installation of devices that match any of these device IDs"
Not able to figure out the device id for this one.
Also i suspect the crappy software. If i use compatibilty mode then i get to see cripped software on screen. with nothing working on it.

I have the HOME version so no group policy editor for me.
