Sorry for necroing this old post,

but there is a dirty hackfix for getting all the analog features like Sonic Studio etc. on the digital out.
Just plug a 3.5mm jack into either your front panel audio or the backpanel audio out to simulate a headphone.
You can just plug in a dead jack, adapter, dummy plug, whatever works.

Then in the realtek supreme fx software you can adjust and use the Sonic Studio settings for this dummy headphone and the effect WILL carry over to the S/PDIF (digital out) !!! Just make sure to mark your SPDIF as default device again!

Pro: It works!
Cons: Need a permanently 3.5mm jack plugged in

Tested on Maximus VII Ranger

I also confirm, that has stopped working some functions I explain:
I was currently using DTS Interactive 5.1 Surround with my AV Onkyo 9.2 channel on the optical output, and everything was perfect until I did the update to Creators Update, sending me an error that indicates that my device is not compatible ..., I want Remember that in another update of Bios along with a Windows we were also without SonicSense and did not recognize the impedance of our headphones through the input mini-jack 3'5 and they solved it I do not remember if with a new sound codec or A new Bios ...

I would also like to know if Asus that currently market the new Z270 plates like the HERO IX have updated their codec from Realtek to version 1220, will we receive these codec ?, could be the solution ?.

It seems that the failure of the compatibility is a crossing of the Windows 10 update, and today has already been corrected with another.
So everything works perfect for me again.

•Addressed issue where, after installing the Creators Update, audio output through external decoders no longer works.
This W10 update fixed some but not all of my audio issues in W10, Still have some audio issues with W10. I'm unsure if its because I'm using an asus driver {Audio Driver V6.0.1.8029} for my Strix PC or its just messed up W10 audio .
