Hi Barbara917
When you get the overclocking failed message when not overclocking it's likely due to your ram. If your ram kit is over 2133MHz technically that is considered overclocked.
You may need to raise the vccio and cpu system agent voltages a little.
What ram kit do you have ?

A forced shutdown by holding the power button triggers the watchdog, which will apply safe settings and display the F1 overclocking failed message when the system is powered up. This is actually a feature implemented for overclockers, so that they can recover the system from a failed POST attempt and then change any offending settings in the UEFI.
