No offense moderators- you run the forums and do not actually work for Asus or design and make this junk we buy.. I read all of this and it makes me feel sick and I wish I never bought this Asus mobo.. And not 1 person has posted step by step in proper order what is needed and actually how to install this said important update- you all feel we are just born with the knowledge and know what you are talking about or are mind readers and can fill in blanks both Asus leave out in instructions and you will not post because you want to tweet 120 charters or less and are to lazy to post in detail.. I know Asus can not care less if we brick our systems- they want us to rma and charge us 60 dollars round trip for what would cost less than 10 dollars in shipping- asus is scamming us on rmas and is what they want when they sell us half working junk to start with.. Not 1 mobo since sandy and all sold us mobos knowing they had to be recalled has made or sold a mobo that has better than 50% good ratings on sites we buy from customer reviews.. Yah the sites that get free chit give great reviews and you can bet they are sent systems with tweaked beta bios and drivers so it actually works out of the box and can help sell down the road- we the normal buyer get half working junk and over 50% is sent back to where its bought with in 30 days or sent rma back to asus.. Lets not talk about fake scam rebates Asus or no other wants to honor..

I am using bios 2202 and like is even posted here [if its not broken do not try and fix it].. As a fact every bios after 2202 all I read is prob after prob and some even pulled down just hours after posting it up and most people rolling back.. I do not use AI Suite afraid it will brick my system and all I read is prob after prob for it and prob after prob for sound and probs after probs for xmp or what ever- lucky I have no sound probs other than a pop sometimes knock on wood and my memory is not xmp type.. But its all sickening and part why I bought this mobo was for said feature and built in software but lil did I know its all a lie and half works.. I bought this Wheatstone ver of my mobo because its reviews was better than the normal Hero VIII- said same mobos but I guess the w-s was a later run.. I did update the bios at the time to 2202 but I noticed with it and everything else here- actual instructions suck or are shorted or none at all.. Like bios instructions said- download and place on flash drive and then on to mobo usb slot and so on-- but left out the very important step- you need to un zip it and then place the bios file on the flash drive and then on to mobo usb etc- very important step but was left out completely.. How was I to know the mobo could not read the zip file and pull what it needed- thanks for nothing and your lazy twitter crap.. And then lets talk about other drivers be it me or sound or what ever.. We unzip it and it has 2 exe' one says asus and the other is from the package- we are left shaking our heads trying to figure out which to install or if both are needed or what- when in fact they are both the same just 1 is packaged a different way- well why even put both in to start with- its because they are trying to confuse us and hope we brick our systems so they can get a rma and profit another 50 dollars off of us and more than likely send us back the same mobo we sent them and months later at that.. Yes I read you take your sweet time with sending people hardware back.. This company sucks.. I thought it was tops- maybe it was 10 years ago but its not now and they sell us for top dollar made in china 10 dollar boards that half work and make up lies about added ai suites that don't work and xmp that don't work and said great sound that pops or what ever if works at all and can read all over about it all- just want to sell us half working Chinese junk and to profit extra from rmas and shaft us..

I look at and read this crap and see on the drivers page a me drivers tool in bios section and wonder- am I supposed to install this like I would an bios update? and I guess this should be done before the said me update I see in the utilities section? And am I supposed to first update my bios to a sorry might might not work 3504 that people complain about and are rolling back and is Asus trying to brick my gosh darn computer with its half arse instructions and then no one here or on this thread has actually posted proper step by step instructions and if any posted as much as I just have he might pass out and die from broken fingers or something.. I will pass if I have to update my bios- I do not want that sorry junk on my computer.. So I still do not know if I need any of this at all but I do want to post and vent because I am sick of it and being treated like this after you got our money.. Yah know- if you people need to- why not hire some actual English speaking people and post some simple instructions that a child can follow- do us all a gosh darn favor and do it with all of your drivers etc and actually make and test and post stuff that works and what we bought and paid for and stop trying to get over on us with rmas- its plain to see you are trying to scam us and is pretty low- maybe you should be sued or something.. This is surely my last Asus product and I can not care less if you go under and you and your families starve is just how I feel about it all.. I do not owe you a thing and I bought your junk in good faith- you are a dishonorable company- period.. If you are not trying to brick our systems W10 surely is- the sorry Obama communist OS it is.. A simple W10 update a few months ago- I have to reboot- it black screens and would not boot into windows- I had to play around in bios and set opti defaults for it to boot again.. And yes I had to disconnect from the net and delete and reinstall all my drivers Obama gladly changes and installs how he wishes and mess my nice running system up.. I grit my teeth thinking about this said great fall update- heck it might not ever run again- I grit my teeth the same way every time I see one of your said up/down grades and read of all the Problems.. All of you are just trying to jerk us around with your sorry garbage..

And for the record, 3504 is not full of problems. It may have problems for users of certain components in certain configurations but a dozen people complaining about issues does not mean a release is "full of problems". I use 3504 and have no issue at all and the release is still available because it works for most users.

As a free tip for those with issues applying even a simple ME update - stop installing junk unverified drivers from station-drivers and win-raid and use the tested validated releases on your next board. Things run much smoother that way.

Agreed. 3504 is a very good bios and in many ways better than previous versions.

I was just going to write that excatly same thing using almost exactly same words. Very good advice.

+1

It gets tiring reading of the same people continually having problems when their history shows them using unverified drivers. Kids always think they know better.

One gets tired of people (like you) spouting nonsense and contributing nothing to the actual topic in hand (aka, helping no-one), kid. I'm 54 years of age, just so you know, and I've forgotten more than you will ever know.

Now, as for the problem?, well I am at a loss as to why it wont work here? Tool & drivers, both from ASUS mainboard site, and driver correctly installed. Running as Admin & driver signing disabled tried also, but to no avail.

I'll just give up on the matter, as I'm unlikely to get much help in here, unfortunately.

What stichcs said about is this safe, should of been better asked is this STABLE!

Look don't take me wrong anyone, I'm not saying if there's some really bad security issues/exploits going on, then we shouldn't be looking at doing an update.

What concerns me is this, I'm Geek enough to know that I don't need to jump the second an update comes out, running around like the house was on fire.

There's also something everyone here, I'm wondering if you realize or not? This is suppose to be a Security Update, correct?

Security first has to start with you, the end-user, firewalls, antivirus, malware protection etc...

If you don't have proper security first in place with your system, then all the updates in the world aren't going to help, so I hope you understand that.

I have not jumped on this update, because I know nothing about it, does anyone know anything about this ME security update and what it entails?

Are any of you old enough to know the stories of Microsoft, in the days, going back many years, when all the so called security updates everyone jumped on were so bad, that Microsoft had to put out updates for the updates.

Look don't take my word for it, but if you continue jumping on things right when they come out, sooner or later, one of these updates is going to bite you in the ass, and you'll wish you didn't.

So for not knowing anything about me, I can tell you this, in 20 years of computing, I have never jumped when something came out, and sometimes I never even updated it. I actually also only ran Windows 7 with only SP1 in it for years and I've never ever had a problem ever in computing with my boxes.

Experience, Education, Knowledge, these are your best weapons of security to have and use, not software updates all the time, until you know exactly what is going on, and what that means for you, and if it's really so important.

I'm not saying this is true for all updates, but there are updates that will be released by companies, as an example that are better suited to a particular usage of the computer, like a server, vs workstation, and the type of setup of the computer, software it's running, and how it's being used. Hopefully this makes a little sense, because I have seen updates over the years from Microsoft as example that had nothing to do with anything I needed on my computer, therefore I never installed them. Bottom Line, some updates address a problem related to a specific situation, that isn't always the needs of just a Home end-user. Remember, software from these companies like this ME are also rolled out for the Server, Business and Corporate world too...

So can someone please enlighten us as to what this update is for, I haven't had a chance to look into this, if anyone has an URL, please post it?

Asus (and me) Don't really care what you choose to do or not. This update is for....and now I am quoting from ASUS support page: " Intel has identified security issue that could potentially place impacted platform at risk". If you don't understand what it says you need to learn English.
