Maximus VIII USB device issues

Hi everybody.

I have a Maximus Hero VIII mobo with strange issues with the USB devices.

It's very similar to this thread: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?83698-Maximus-Viii-USB-device-issues

I have a Logitech G27 wheel. When i plug it start calibrating but stops in the process. In BIOS the wheel initializes correctly and goes to the center, but when I start Windows the wheel disconnects. The wheel is fine because still works perfectly with my previous Maximus VII and with a MSI X99A.

More strange things with USB devices:

  • If I plug or unplug any other USB device, the wheel tries to calibrate without success.
  • Randomly, the wheel tries to calibrate in Windows, but stops responding before finishing the calibration process.
  • Logitech software doesn't recognice any device.
  • In BIOS if I plug an USB DVD, the wireless mouse and keyboard stops responding. Unpluging DVD, mouse works again

I tried all this:

  • Different USB ports
  • BIOS update to 1504
  • ASmedia firmware update
  • ASmedia drivers update
  • Enabling/disabling ASmedia in BIOS
  • Enabling/disabling xHCI Handoff
  • Enabling/disabling USB Legacy Support
  • Enabling/disabling USB ports
  • Reinstalling Windows 10 several times
  • Fresh install of Win10 in a new SSD drive
  • With and without Windows Update

Nothing works.

I don’t know if I have a defective Mobo or there is configuration problem with all Maximus VIII boards, because I have seen many people with similar problems with USB devices.

I’m very disappointed.

My config: Maximus VIII Hero, I7 6700K, Samsung EVO 850, Asus Strix GTX970, Kingston 2400.

Check on a firmware update from Logitech. Unfortunately, not all legacy USB devices are automatically compatible with this platform.

Disable your antivirus and reinstall the Logitech drivers and configure the wheel. Then restart your pc, re-enable your antivirus and see if your wheel now works.
With any drivers, you need to disable your antivirus for them to install and configure them properly.

Thanks for your help.

The Logitech drivers are the latest from Logitech website

On every machine with or without drivers, when you plug the wheel to any USB, the wheel calibrates and goes to center.

Plugged to a Maximus VIII USB, the wheel stops during the inicialization process. Like if I unplug the USB connector.

Finally I could make the G27 work.

I was installing the latest Logitech Gaming Software 8.81.15 but this versión doen't support G27.
I uninstalled this software and downloaded versión 5.10.127. With this versión the wheel works !!!

Thank you

The Logitech website clearly states which version of Logitech Gaming Software to use for G27.

Try Uninstalling Asus Keybot software. I had similar issues with my CM spawn mouse. After uninstalling it evertin works fine.
