Maximus VIII Impact won't power down PC

This is a fresh new build PC, installed a clean windows 7 x64. Installed al the drivers and updated the BIOS to the latest version 1504.
Also installed al windows 7 updates including SP1. So here is the really strange problem, when I shut down windows. The pc doesn't turn/power off.
The fans/hdd/psu are still spinning while the computer screen are turned off in standby mode (yellow blinking lights).

So I searched around a bit on the forum and tried this method https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?54431-Maximus-VII-Impact-won-t-turn-off-after-shutdown
However it doesn't work for me unfortunately. I looked on the FAQ from asus website http://www.asus.com/support/faq/1005498/ same problem however I dont have the IEEE 1394 controller on this motherboard.

Have you run any kind of fan optimization either through bios or Fan Expert 3?

In Fan Expert 3 try turning Cpu Fan Extreme Quiet mode off. Fanexpert 3 -> click on cpu fan graph, you will see the setting there. Let me know if that fixes the shut down issue, it did for me.

I don't see it?

For comparison here are my fan setting with quiet mode on vs off. You'll see that your fan settings closely match my on mode which causes all the shutdown issues.56510

I don't know about the Fan Expert fix but this "Intel check/uncheck" method worked for me as described here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?81504-solution-windows-doesnt-shutdown-on-maximus-boards&p...
Basically open msconfig, and uncheck the Intel services, then restart to take effect on new settings after that the PC shutdown perfectly.
Yes it did power off !
After that I turned on the computer, opened msconfig again and check ALL the Intel Services back to ON, restart to take effect, and tried this time to shut down and it works !
The computer powered off, so I can't say for sure this is the fix for everyone else and I can't gurantee this won't happen again in the future. Time will tell but so far so good I have powered it off today 5-6 times without any problems.
So there you have it 😄

You're in the right place but the setting is missing from your Ai Suite 3 (probably difference between Z170 Premium & Maximus VIII Impact Ai Suite). No worries I can tell from the pic that it is the equivalent of being turned on. I can tell by how low the rpm's are allowed to go to which only happens with extreme quiet mode on for me.
Try going to RPM Fix mode and set the minimum cpu fan rpm to around 850. Leave it on rpm fix mode and try shut down a few times and let me know.

A lot of people that tried that intel "fix" had that problem come back after 5-6 shutdowns. I hope it works for you but if not I have tested this fan expert fix with probably over 50-60 shut downs and after letting the computer idle for hours and do heavy work over 3 days at this point and it works like a charm. A lot of "fixes" for this issue seem to work temporarily because all the activity causes the cpu to heat up and keeps the fans spinning at high rpm's, later on when some hours of usage have gone by without major cpu system changes and tempertures drop and fan expert lets the cpu fan idle at very low rpm's the bug comes back and shut down problems resume. Please update us to let us know either way over the next few days.
