Maximus viii hero oc problem, maybe defective.

Hello Everyone,
My build is:
CPU: 6700K
MOBO: VIII HERO
RAM: G-skill 3000MHZ
PSU: XFX Pro 750 W
GPU: 980 Pny 4gb
SSD: 850 Pro x2 RAID
Cpu Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64bit

The problem I am having is that , when i set my MOBO to asus turbo mode and start it, on prime95 after a minute, my system starts
to be unstable runs slowly and i cant reboot via mouse.
have to hold the powerup button to shut it down.
everything was set to automatic, yes xmp was enabled.
the ram default frequency from the hero board is 2100MHZ when i change it to 3000MHZ without touching the cpu everything runs fine.
when i start to oc my cpu via multiplier over 4,3Ghz the system becomes unstable, i also tryed to change only the multilpier with
asus automatic mod.
its the newest bios you can get right now.
when i run any oc with intel turbo boost disabled the cpu stays at 4ghz x40 (8-43)

i also called the asus life chat and the person i talked to thinks the board is defective, i also tryed to reflash bios.

with asus normal mode without xmp and with, when multiplier is set to 44 or higher system isnt booting, only the windows boot logo than
blackscreen.

i also followed the official oc instruction form asus them self for the maximus viii hero board.

a frind with a maximus viii and same components like me has no issues with same settings or on automatic.

sry for my bad english.

Hi daemondotexe

Give us an update and let us know what water cooler you went with and what temps are, you should be able to do some overclocking.
It's normal for your cpu to stick at 4.0GHz with turbo disabled, enable it after you get your water cooler installed and tell us what voltage your cpu is drawing at auto/stock settings.

My 6700k was drawing 1.44v with stock settings by just setting the windows power plan to high performance, not a big deal though I can hit 4.75GHz - 4.8GHz with 1.488v. Your cpu is likely getting over volted on auto settings, you can manually set a lower voltage to help bring temps down.

the shop had no good water collers, but now i just realised that i cant even install the intel hd 530 drivers , it says my system has not the right requirements for it
i also have the latest chipset drivers.
im not able to install any other drivers for this cpu, the intel utility programm cant find any hardware.
thx for your reply!

It's not necessary to install the Intel graphics driver since you have a 980, you can skip it I don't install it either.

Allright gona try to oc, 4.4ghz maybe it works now.

Just tryed turbo boost and my system was laggy just freezed. So i wont try to oc when it just freezes while turbo boost is on.

Gaming temps of 70c is fine.

OK good luck and give us an update remember to set the voltage manually, start with say 1.30v I'm not sure how much your cpu cooler can handle.
