Maximus VIII Hero, i5-6600K OC with Adaptive voltage

Firstly, my current OC was accomplished by just these settings:

1 to 4 core ratio: 45
Min. CPU Cache ratio: 41
Max CPU Cache ratio: 41
CPU Core/Cache voltage: Manual
- CPU Core Voltage Override: 1.185v (maybe not enough?)
Maximus Tweak: Mode 1 (did this automatically, unsure what it entails)
CPU Load-line Calibration: Level 5

Before I start this new journey I will gather some basic information here. I would like to OC with Adaptive voltage and have SpeedStep and C-states enabled.

What will I need to tweak, why and when? I see people having changed PCH voltage as well, for example.

I would start by setting 1.350v or 1.375v in the Adaptive voltage area with a 46 MP, cache at 41 or 42, LLC 5 and take it from there: lower the voltage until it doesn't boot. A good temperature is what I'll be looking for.

It's my understanding that Adaptive voltage changes the volts depending on clock speed within a set range?

So would that mean that 1.290 is my voltage, and can I set that in adaptive without the +0.01/0.02? It's really stable, did and additional 4 hours of RealBench, hours of games, and all it does it go down to 1.280, temps are max 50C in gaming, 55-57C while stress testing.

Did you ever do something to the cache? I'm now tempted to leave it on auto.

Awesome, thanks! I'll leave mine on auto too, it's not like I'm running 4000MHz+ RAM, in which case having a higher cache clock might help.

Since mine is 5hrs RealBench plus 10+hrs gaming stable on 4.6GHz with 1.290v I'll make that the adaptive voltage, I don't think there's the need for an additional 0.01/0.02v - but correct me if I'm wrong! I'll also leave the LLC on auto, as I think it won't change much for me? How do I determine how Vdroop I have? I could always try 5 and see how the voltage behaves whilst running RealBench.

With my previous OC I used level 5 as well, 3 and 4 made the voltage very jumpy. So level 5 an retest RealBench? That only leaves setting and additional 0.01 or 0.02v or not in adaptive, like in the guide.

Level 5 is good to go. Try it.

I'll set the VCore to Adaptive once I've determined the sweet spot of my max and stable overclock 😉

I have also 4.6ghz at 1.28v adaptive, today i tried 4.7 with 1.37 but it still wasn't enough to keep it stable. Might just leave it to 4.6, not much difference anyway.

@ Janne: Yeah I'd leave it as it is; you'll need too much additional voltage for that extra 100.

Something interesting happened with 1.290v adaptive; after 15 mins of RealBench the PC rebooted, whilst having said voltage at manual is rock solid. What do you make of this? Trying 1.300v now.

Im not sure if you really have to do realbench with adaptive on, i just did it with manual 1.28 then switched to adaptive 1.29. Atleast i haven't have any problems with real usage, games etc. I think i did realbench with adaptive 4.5 but never with 4.6, manual was enough. In chinos manual realbench is done only with manual voltage.

You make a fair point. My logic here was that if it's stable at adaptive, it should be stable in RealBench as well.

And it was on a 30 minute run, 1.300v adaptive BIOS, 1.264v HWMonitor/CPU-Z.
