Maximus VIII Hero - Has downscaled my RAM speed

I made a mistake. Its the first time in 10 years I've built a new machine. I forgot to check the web for Hero approved memory list.

I bought Corsair Dominator platinum 4 x 4 GB CMD16GXM4M4B3400C16 WITH A SPEED RATING OF 3400Mhz AT 1.2v.

I thought it would work fine but although it works, I have noticed it has been down graded to 2133Mhz . I have pressed the MEM OK button for the Mobo to fine tune the memory and it doesn't shift from 2133Mhz. Also I cannot force the speed in the BIOS as it is not listed.

I am new to Gaming Mobo's and don't have a clue of how to approach the problem. I would appreciate any help I can get
