Maximus viii hero bios 1402

So bios 1402 finally came out for the Hero today. Has anyone installed it and had grief with it? I'm weary of installing it since the last 2 gave me so many problems. But I've heard it works well on the other VIII motherboards. Please post your thoughts. Thanks!

Hi there,

I've just flashed from 1302 to 1402 this morning. 4.5Ghz Adaptative volt OC working as always.

There is only one thing that I kinda feel weird. After bios update, one core (randomly) goes way hotter than the rest. Just for 1 or 2 seconds. It is completely random. I am monitoring it with HWINFO, latest beta, and even on Idle, where I have normally about 22-25 º on each core, suddenly without doing a thing, one core (not the same each time) goes around 40-45º for one second, and then goes back to normal.

Has anyone checked this out?

On my system M8E the only difference I noticed from 1302 is 1402 with the same bios settings is SA and IO voltages seem a little higher, I can't say for sure if this is an anomaly or intentional to help with high speed memory compatibility
My system has been stable and highly overclock able since original bios but I can't tell much of a difference since 1202 except for what I mentioned above

I am using this bios for a few hours. I upgraded from 1202. I noticed that while upgrading to the 1402 my MOBO rebooted once and it was ready to go... When i upgraded from 0802 to 1202 back when i got the mobo, the bios rebootet like 5-8 times... Was kinda weird to me but other than that it works perfectly fine. 🙂

Have you noticed any difference with the HDD LED on the motherboard with the latest BIOS? Mine stays on, and I'm thinking it might not have behaved this way on the older BIOS.

It doesn't for me, just works normally.

Maybe the original hero is good. Can anyone with the Alpha confirm if the hdd led stays on with 1402?

No, mine works normally as before. I just opened my storage HDD from the explorer and the light blinks until it loads everything and goes off. Maybe recheck the case cables for the HDD light that you plug to the mobo.

I flashed to 1402 as well, my light now stays on all the time. Not sure if it did right after the bios update but it stays lit now even with 0% hard drive activity. I tried flashing to earlier bios but it didn't resolve the issue.

Just curious. Does this 1402 bios completely fix the microcode bug for Skylake that has been reported in Prime 95 ? I read that there might be some more updates about the bug later on... ?
