Maximus VIII Hero 6770K x40 only

While at stock settings the CPU does not run at 4.2Ghz. While Playing games all 4 cores run at x40 Frequency only.

Only way CPU will go up to 4.2Ghz is if I enable Asus Multi-Core Enhancement along with SYNC All Cores. But doing so cause the Voltage to rise up to 1.398 which is way too high and beyond.

If I leave the settings on Auto For Each Core, this cause all the cores to only go up to x40 ratio (No single core reaches x42)

Is my Maximus VIII applying too much voltage to my CPU ? I am using BIOS Version 1001. I am worried if have a bad MB or CPU ( which is unlikely) which I just got from Micro Center.

thx for input.

Issue remains with BETA Bios 0902.

By default the i7-6700K only boosts to 4.2GHz when only one core is being loaded. When all 4 cores are loaded, it will stay at 4GHz unless you've activated the Multi-Core Enhancement option in the BIOS. But activating that option will force all 4 cores to boost to 4.2GHz which requires more voltage than normal.

Regarding the automatic voltage that is being applied to your particular CPU, you can try tuning it to see if your CPU can run all 4 cores at 4.2GHz with a lower value.
