Maximus VIII Formula

Hello my good fellow ROG'ers

I just upgraded to the maximus viii formula and I love it, the 6700k and 16GB kingston hyperx predator ram (CL12 2400MHz). Everything is installed and running without a hitch. I did have a heck of a time activating windows 7 and then had a heck of a time upgrading to windows 10 but after about 7 hours it's finally done (sheeesh). The only thing I've done so far is overclock the ram and seems to be quite a nice kit as I'm able to overclock it to 3100MHz with 1.35v and timings 15-15-15-30-2T. I'm not an expert in overclocking ram but this looks pretty respectable to me what do you guys think?

I haven't overclocked the cpu yet and that will be next, I'm worried Intel may have sent me a not so good overclocker. I set the windows power plan to high performance and at 4200MHz the cpu is drawing 1.44v, on the bright side temps are great.

For those of you who have experience with the 6700k, I know on auto voltage it will get overvolted some but I was just wondering before I begin overclocking it, is it normal for the voltage to be that high on auto or did I possibly get a below average cpu. I haven't touched the BCLK but it looks to be running a little over 100.0

Thank you to all who answers.

I need to get some black paint and touch up the thumb screws on the cpu block, they didn't look that bad but the camera says otherwise.

Awesome Nate, i am happy for you mate:) You are a lucky ROGer having the maximus formula and what a great board it is. One thing about Asus is they make great motherboards for performance and looks. Your temps look good mate as i want to get mine in the 20's also. If you can get your temps in the 20's then i reckon you are doing well. 4.7 overclock is ok isn't it?

OH yea, i took your advice and picked up a retail copy of windows 10 home edition. I thought i would make the move, so now i just have to wait until i finish the build to install it. I think i am more excited about windows 10 than i am finishing the build. I have got some sort of bug.

Nice upgrade Nate! Very nice board and looking good! Maybe the Silicon lottery could have been kinder but still a power house at 4.7GHz

How does cache clock?

Nice Skylake configuration...
That's Koolance Liquid System, he was expensive before 5-6 years.
He is probably strong enough for graphic cards.

Thank you guys !

I'm having a ball playing with it, 4.7GHz is a decent overclock but I've seen some better 6700k's lol. I haven't tried the cache as that will just add more heat but I'm content with 4.7GHz.

The erm-2k3u is rated for up to 2000w but I think it would be pushing it. I used to have three gtx 280's, cpu and motherboard liquid cooled and it would blow hot air, warmer than it should have been for that rating.

Maximum temps in real temp are after playing far cry 4 for 1 hour.
