MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA vs GEFORCE 1080GTX SLI NOT WORKING

hello to everyone,

My 1080 GTX SLI it is not recognized by the motherboard.
I put my cards on: Slot PCIEX16/X8_1 and SLOT PCIEX8_2

from bios this is the situation:


if individually installed, cards work on both slots

My Hardware:

- ASUS MAXIMUS VII FORMULA bios version 1701
- INTEL 6700k
- RAM 16GB CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM 3000Mhz
- SAMSUNG EVO 850 512Gb
- WD RAPTOR 3x150GB
- DVDR PLEXTOR SATA
- ASUS ROG PG278Q
- GEFORCE 1080GTX FOUNDERS EDITION SLI


Previously i had Asus GeForce STRIX-GTX980Ti-DC3-6GD5 SLI and sli was perfectly.
My motherboard has a problem or is incompatible with the new GeForce 1080s?

Have you tried swapping out the SLI bridge?
What PSU are you running? Check the PCI-E PSU cable connections.
Are both cards detected in Device Manager?

Run GPU-Z, are the cards using the same bios version?

Hi,

I tried with another SLI bridge but nothing has changed
I have Enermax Galaxy 850W PSU (i checked the cables and they are ok)
Device manager on win10 64bit show only one GeForce 1080GTX
Running GPU-Z and the card have both same bios version (86.04.17.00.01)

So your 980's worked in both PCI-E slots?

How old is your Enermax PSU? And which model is it?

The only two common components is the PSU and Mobo. So if your 980's worked on this board, then that leaves the PSU.

Are your GPUs working in Windows and in games?

I have the same problem with my z170 deluxe(latest BIOS). Second 1080 is not detected. The 2 980ti i had installed before worked fine. Both 1080 work fine in the first slot
