Did you mean:

Maximus Hero VIII vcore won't drop during idle?

I just did a BIOS flash from 2001 to 3401. All seems fine but I can't seem to get my vcore to drop when my system is idle.

I have c-states enabled etc, I have minimum cpu power in power settings set to 10% and max set to 100%. I put back all my settings after the BIOS flash (my OC) settings etc.

I'm not looking to have my cpu clocks drop, just the vcore...

What did notice is that the Package C States Limit setting no longer allows you to pick "Enabled" It's either Auto or a series of C values to choose from.

Could this be it?

Hi xPepi

Check you have the windows power plan set to balanced, this should drop the cpu speed and voltage at idle.

You can't have just the Vcore drop or you'll have an unstable system.

I just tried that. Now the clocks fluctuate but the vcore stays the same?

All right,

Switch the cpu core/cache voltage to adaptive, with the C-States and Speedstep enabled with the windows power plan set to balanced the speed and voltage should drop when at idle.

I always used adaptive, still the vcore after the BIOS update won't drop during idle, only clocks.

Try resetting the bios to defaults, both cpu speed and voltage should drop when at idle. Make sure the windows power plan is set to balanced.

Is the speed and voltage throttling now ?

1) Put PC to balanced
2) Rebooted into Bios
3) Reset BIOS to default
4) Rebooted twice
5) Core clocks and Vcore stayed the same (makes sense, c-states not applied yet or adaptive)
6) Applied my OC profile
7) Rebooted
😎 Core clocks dropped during idle, Vcore stayed same/constant as before
9) I give up, not a big deal, must be the new BIOS
10) Put PC back to Performance mode since being in Balanced doesn't do what I want
11) Yes I did reset Balanced profile to stock settings

Thanks for the help.
