i6700K overclock temperature range

Hi,

I'm trying to find out what are the normal temperature ranges of i6700k running at different overclock speeds.

I've recently installed CM nepton 240m water cooler and overclocked the CPU to 4.8Ghz.

When running AIDA stability stress test I see temperature jumping to 100C on some cores, with average being between 85-90C.

Can this CPU handle such temperature ?

Them temperatures are too high mate. What's your voltage? mine at 4.8 and with aids max temp is 70. at 1.36v. Even when it was at 1.42v max was 78. I

All voltages are set to Auto: CPU Core VCCIO, SA and PCH.
Looking at HWmonitor when running AIDA I see CPU Core voltage jumping to 1.472.

Do I just need to manual set CPU voltage ? Comparing to what you've said looks like Auto is cranking it up too high.

I've fixed the CPU core voltage to 1.37 and it runs all fine at 4.7Ghz with max temperature 80C in AIDA.

Looks like indeed ASUS Auto is too generous on voltage.

Thanks for advice !

Yeah mate, when I was setting v core to 1.36 I had llc on auto and would bring the vcor to 1.42. set it to 6 and it's all good. good to know its sorted 🙂
