CPU temp HWMonitor vs Q LED on VIII Hero Alpha

According to the QLED, the CPU idles around 30. I just ran HWMonitor and am unsure which one it's reading from. I do see one value at 30, but I also see other values at 26 or so. What is my true CPU temp? Which field should I look at on HWMonitor?

CPUTIN matches the QLED at 30.

The rest says otherwise, around 26 or 27

Z790 Asus Hero Maximus on 0816 BIOS (0914 and 1202 crashes for me on XMP I), Intel 13900k stock clock, Asus 4090 Strix OC edition, FF3D532G720 Teamgroup Ram running XMP I, 16gb x 2, Samsung 980 Pro 2TB x 2, Seasonic VERTEX GX 1200W, Win 11 Pro 64, Deepcool LS720 AIO, NZXT H7 Flow. Comfortably using Armoury Crate for updates/fan xpert.

Hi Vinny1001

The cpu temps are

Core 0
Core 1
Core 2
core 3

I use Hwinfo, click the pic to make it bigger.

I'm logged in and when I click the picture it says I must log in to view.. weird.

So the QLED function for CPU temperature isn't accurate, or it's taking a different reading.

HWMonitor (for those core values you listed) states I'm idle around the 26 or so. CPU LED shows 30. So much for that feature 😞

Guess my work computer was being weird - stopped at home for lunch and I can blow that image up now.

Anyway, yeah, the Q LED on the motherboard shows 30 when the cores on HWMonitor show around 26. I take it that it's reading another sensor of some sort?

I don't use the q-led for cpu temp monitoring but I would imagine the q-led is reading the cpu package temp.

Yeah right now after I OC'd the other day, my temps got lower, so QLED at idle reads around 27 or 28 (instead of 30). And here is what HWMonitor shows.

The closest value to that is the CPUTIN value. The CPU value stays around 23, and the Package 23, then the cores #0-#3 stay around 18 to 21.

Guess the QLED isn't all that useful. Darn.

I'd pay attention to the cpu core temps which are accurate, some of those other cpu temp readings can be wrong for instance the TMPIN4 reading.

HWinfo shows funny readings for some of those cpu temps too.

Darn, wish the QLED was actually accurate. So much for that feature lol.

Anyway, thanks!

Running Prime95 torture test has no effect on Q-Code LED reading, but playing Far Cry increases Q-Code LED reading by 20.
