Oh! UEFI version 0508 hasn't the problem. Asus must do some joke to user surely.
I ever try to rollback to UEFI version 1308. It doesn't work.
My solution, you will have usb hub with external power source( i use Belkin usb hub f4u040sa).
- Connect it to back I/O Panel .
- Connect keyboard to usb hub and connect external power source to usb hub.
- Shut down PC
- Switch off all of power source that connect to your pc.
- Wait 5-30 minutes
- Turn on PC
- See the result
The latest test i turn off my pc approximate 10 HR. I turn off my pc at noon. It's work no problem "No keyboard detected".
Now you have 2 way.
1. Try to buy the usb hub with external power to test it. (Even it doesn't work you can plug/unplug at usb hub easier than plug/unplug at back I/O panel.)
2. Wait Asus fix this issue. (I think no way, Asus ignore this issue surely they think it's very nonsense for them)

I'm in the same boat. K70 + Hero VIII. Mobo doesn't detect KB after cold boot. I'm really tired of this. I need to replug it after boot. I've been doing it for over 2 months - really annoyed
There has been bunch of topics with the USB handshake problems - yet Asus doesn't acknowledge that it is a real problem.

Urgent update!!!
In this morning "no keyboard detected" appear again.
The conclusion is Asus UEFI Firmware problem.
USB hub cannot solve this problem 100 %. But can help to decrease the problem.

Z97 and X99 chipsets now use xHCI for both USB 2.0 and 3.0 with updates to the xHCI protocol. Prior to these chipsets EHCI was used for USB 2.0. This change results in compatibility issues with some legacy devices and those devices require a firmware update to properly function with the latest xHCI implementation.

The same applies for the Z170 platform.
