It read file. I waited. Pressed ok after done.
It Turned off.
Turned itself on again.
But nothing on monitor.
Qcode stops of 4F

I tried to reset cmos.
I tried plugging monitor into intel onboard video
I tried loading bios 1001 from a usb with flashback button.

System won't post. Doesnt get to bios screen.

Hello

Reflash using USB BIOS Flashback. The instructions for its use can be found in the included user manual. Also in the manual is the requirement for the BIOS file to be on a USB flash disk when using EZ Flash from within the BIOS.

Hi,
I don't see instructions for USB Flashback in the Maximus VIII Hero manual but i am familiar with the procedure from other Asus boards i have owned.
One question, the Asus website hasn't been updated with the VIII series board, what should the bios be renamed?

I downloaded the bios file from the website and renamed it M8H.cap, put it in the root of usb drive.
Inserted into correct flash back port.
Turned power on.
Press and held flash back button until it started flashing.

Manual says the flashback button light will go off when flash is complete.......mine stays on, and after a bunch of different q codes it stops on qcode 4F.

Memok also goes thru a bunch qcodes but stops on 4F

Hello

The system should not be powered up when performing USB BIOS Flashback. If it is off Q Codes cannot be displayed.

Ok thanks for you help. I hope it works, don't wanna have to send the motherboard back.

I'm @ work. Will try when I get home.

Ok that did it. Im back in business. Thank you so much. I really appreciate not having to ship MB back to asus. Also flashback feature saved my bacon.

P.S.
The manual does say you should use an usb to update bios, i'll give u that. But it never says don't update bios thru ssd, m2 or hard drive......in fact there is an option to do so in the bios utility. Why have the option in the bios to begin with? If its there someone will try it.

Thank you for being the sacrificial lamb for the bios flash via ssd, m2, etc... I was wondering if I could use my SSD since it showed up in the list of drives in the bios to select the flash file. Now we know that won't work.
