Bios 3703

I am running on the Maximus VIII hero alpha. In regards to the specter/meltdown security issue,
if I update my management engine driver and run the update tool, am I safe with 3504 BIOS, or am I not fully
safe until ASUS releases the 3703 BIOS?

Yes it works.
The new bios 3703 has new intel microcode version (C2 for my skylake 6600K CPU).
I loaded my XMP 3200 Mhz and 4.5Ghz OC and boots well, ill test it for stability l8tr.

With the previous bios and after microsoft meltdown update I started to have some random crashs in games I never had before.
I can't say for sure the update was the problem, let's see how it goes now with the new microcode.

I also had sudden stoppages in games that resumed 3-5 sec depending and I did not have before, I will also inform if it works.

Installed 3703 on a Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, did prelim testing for 2 hours, all good so far. Thanks for the quick response, ASUS!

Will there be a new OS side ME driver posted? I seem to have 11.8 for FW but only 11.7 from November on the OS side.

Hello !

I've just updated my HERO VIII Bios from v2202 to 3703. I have NOT run ME Update Tool from ASUS in between, so it has been a long tim from my last update..

HWinfo and "Main" bios section report ME version as 11.6.10.1196. I've updated Intel ME driver to 11.7.0.1040 but I'm wondering if I need to run the ME update tool.

Thanks for any help !

I completed 36 hours of stress, feature, and gaming testing. All is good with this release for the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha.

So, I installed the 3703 BIOS update on my Maximus VIII Fromula (i7 6700k), but now my GPU Sapphire R290 Vapor-X keeps doing the following thing when I am in games at random times:
- game freezes (including whatever is going on on my secondary display)
- yellow lines flash 2 - 3 times in the bottom third over both displays
- both screens turn black, sound keeps going on
at this point either of two things happen:
a) Windows 10 force quits the game and I loose all progress since the last save
b) computer freezes up completely

Updated GPU drivers with a clean install, problem persists. Can anybody help me please?

EDIT: Just for the sake of clarification, this is happening across games from different devs with different engines from different eras.

It happens to me exactly the same, but does not leave the game, before Winddows Fall Creators happened every half hour or one and was blocked and had to restart it, now it is blocked as you comment of 3-10 seconds and returns, I will I would rather blame Windows that still has to optimize certain things.
I have reviewed each and every one of the hardware components of the PC, even send RMA some of them when I had warranty with the same results and in the end I saw that it was Windows, so patience I would say ...

Edit: spontaneous stoppages no longer appear.

Thanks for the input but I know it happened right after the BIOS update, so I find it difficult to fault another component for that exact error. I guess I will try to roll the BIOS back to an earlier version - Specter or not - if only for troubleshooting purposes.

I'll be avoiding this like the plague, just as I will the Windows 10 update. So much scaremongering with all this, honestly! Hack me all you want Spectre/Meltdown, I don't give a rats ass, as we live in an age of constant danger/threats, and there will always be something else around the corner regardless. The only thing having a 'meltdown', will be all these fools who installed this crap, and crippled their hardware in the process, because someone told them so.

If I told you all to go stick a 240v live wire up your butts, because it will make you feel better, would you do so?

Good luck with all your updates, enjoy 😉
