I am running on the Maximus VIII hero alpha. In regards to the specter/meltdown security issue,
if I update my management engine driver and run the update tool, am I safe with 3504 BIOS, or am I not fully
safe until ASUS releases the 3703 BIOS?

Oh my God! If this is your answer, you are ignorant. Do you really think common sense can fix this issue? Rubbish! The only thing that fixes this issue is the BIOS update that says change cpu micro code. The latest BIOS for Maximus VIII is 3703. Common sense does nothing to solve this problem.

Yes, common sense. Stay off the xxx, don't open unknown programs, stay off the warez sites, torrents, run anti malware. Troll on.

Okay, but have you tried it to see if it works properly ?, come my good corrections by the way. I'm also going to install the new Ai Suite to see how it goes. https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?98800-AI-Suite-3-Beta-Version-3-00-10-user-test-report-thr...

Fatal1tyPT how did you do it?

Very easy,
just download the ZIP file from the product page, unzip to the root of my 😧 drive.

After that, go to the BIOS / Tools / ASUS EZ flash 3 Utility / via Storage Device(s)... and update using the unziped file.

In my case: MAXIMUS-VIII-EXTREME-ASUS-3703.CAP

Do not shutdown the system during all the update!

😮

You have changed the Name to the file for your ASUS Maximus VIII Extreme, right?
Is the file of this Bios common to all motherboards?

Asus uploaded the wrong bios, we have to wait for them to fix it. Also there is no need rename it.

Thanks, I think it's the best we can do. 😉

I played it, I changed the name to the Bios file, and the message I put back in the previous screenshot I did came out again.
I will wait cautiously to see if Asus pronounces itself in any comment or correction of this mess.
