ASUS VIII Hero 55 code when used XMP

Hi guys,

A few weeks ago I upgraded to 0902 BIOS (now installed 1001). From this time I can't use XMP memory profile - I'm getting 55 error during loading, so I have to back to default (AUTO) memory profile with 2133MHz - in this profile PC works fine. I see that some persons have the same case... So perhaps somebody knows solution of this issue or somebody knows that it will be fixed in the next BIOS release?

P.S. I have tried maximus Tweak mode 1 first - not work.

P.P.S. My main misunderstanding is why with 0802 (and early) BIOS I used XMP profile without any problems, but now even I rollback to 0802 BIOS XMP profile gives error...

Thank for any answers and suggestions.

Thank you.

PC:
ASUS MAXIMUS VIII HERO
Intel i7-6700K
G.SKILL 16GB 3000MHz Ripjaws 4 Blue CL15 4x4096 (F4-3000C15Q-16GRBB)

Please, let me know if you need other components.

Unless your system is unstable, there is no need to update your BIOS. And as you can guess, a lot of changes goes on behind each BIOS updates. So settings on one particular revision will not carry over so well. With that said, the F4-3000C15Q-16GRBB kit is designed for the X99 platform not the Z170. You shouldn't even be using XMP profile. Go setup your RAM manually instead. 🙂

Yep, but could you help with optimal parameters for this case? Sorry, I never configured manually RAM, so it will be grate if you write a full name of parameter and values;) Thanks in advance.
P.S XMP profile is installing the following values:
DRAM frequency -> 3000
DRAM voltage -> 1.35
DRAM CAS# Latency -> 15
DRAM ROS# to CAS# Delay -> 16
DRAM RAS# Act Time -> 35
So do I need some other param? And can I use all these without changes?

Manually enter the DRAM frequency (3000MHz) and DRAM voltage (1.35v).
Now you only need to enter the basic timings: 15-16-16-35 and a command rate 2T.
Run CPU-Z and click on the Memory and SPD tabs to determine the name of each timing.

Test system stability and if it passes, you can change the command rate to 1T and test again.

Thank you very much. Your instructions are working. But I have a small issue as I think. Once I rebooted PC - I got this 55 code, I just turn off PC and turn on once more, as result all are working... I don't know reason of it, also I'm little bit confused of my displayed 4000 NB frequency in CPU-Z, is it normal? I have read a few sites, people told that "nb frequency = north bridge frequency. The north bridge is a part of your motherboard. (NB Multi) * (FSB) = (NB Freq) ", is it true?
Screen from CPU-Z is attached.
Thanks again.

That's because you're running your RAM out of the manufacturer's specifications. The default command rate is 2T. If you want to run them at 1T, manual tuning might be necessary.

Chino, error appeared with 2T option. With 1T at the moment I don't get any errors after a few reboots. By the way thanks for suggestion - I will keep it in the mind.

The NB frequency is actually the Cache frequency, if you continue to have trouble with those memory chips try 2933 mhz instead of 3000, or if you know what brand chips are on your memory modules you may try one of the preset profiles in the bios
