Where can I find the 2202 for the Maximus VIII Extreme. The latest Firmware I have found is 1902.
The ASUS RAM compatibility list has not been updated since 4/16. Since then, the major RAM producers have come out with quite a few models that are obviously not on the list. IMHO, ASUS needs to get on the stick and update that list.
Also IMHO, if the CPU supports a major RAM manufacturer's particular DDR4 speed and timing, it ought to work. Only supporting a narrow band of RAM and other parts (basically because they were too lazy to test new stuff as it came out) is why I quit building systems on Intel mobos. DDR4 and the memory bus is a standard..... parts certified to run on that standard should work on any DDR4 mobo.
"Your RAM is not on our compatibiliy list" is a cop out, IMHO. M8 hardware is not cheap, poorly designed gear. If ASUS wants to design and sell to very high end builders they need to keep their compatibility list up-to-date.
Also, if something worked in 1701 but is broken in 2202, that says a lot about the quality (or lack of) SQA testing at ASUS. An *UPGRADE* should *NEVER* break functionality that worked in previous versions.
If you read the manual you will se that your RAM isn't on the list. If you read the manual before complaining and: "It's ASUS fault, they should fix it for me". you would know why you have problems.
