2202 Bios

The Maximus VIII Ranger just got a 2202 bios to download on the Danish Asus site. It's not on the US one but I'm guessing they are in the progress of doing so.
https://www.asus.com/dk/Motherboards/MAXIMUS-VIII-RANGER/HelpDesk_Download/

Updates are as follows:

MAXIMUS VIII RANGER BIOS 2202
1.CPU uCode update
2.Support more PCIe-1394 devices.

So not so vague notes as usually 🙂

Updated but microcode patch version still showing as 74 in the BIOS.

Seem to have a problem with Q-fan control with this BIOS. After running optimize all whole system freezes after pressing the ok button. Have to reset the system after this.

Sounds like the same issue I had in one of the older bios':

Seems to be the same issue, although I was using 1701 bios before this and it was working fine on it. I use Speedfan (and everything working as it should, fans set to manual in bios), so it's not a total loss.

I have experienced this too when i update my bios from 1701 to 1902 (currently on my system). will do update if this issue will be fixed.

Same issue here (hero 8), updated the bios to 2202, but the microcode did not change, it is still ver 74 😞

EDIT:
Looks like they updated the kabylake microcode, not skylake.

Hi there people,

This new version is also a bugged one for me. Since 1701 my XMP detection is totally broken. And I'm starting to give up on bios updates. I've tried everything and there's no way I could enable XMP on my Kingston 2400mhz. Only downgrading to 1701 or below works like a charm.

2202 boots really fast, much faster than previous bioses.

Hey there, xator.
Yeah, I had the exact same thing happen... again... with my 2800 Ripjaw V kit. XMP immediately put it in a q-code 41 bootloop, and rolling it back to 1701 had, once again, fixed the issue.

However...

I purchased a kit of TridentZ 3200, updated to 2202, and wouldn't you know it?

A MIRACLE happened.

XMP enabled flawlessly, and has been rock-solid stable for a few days of heavy use/gaming. No issues whatsoever.
Until ASUS takes a look into the issue with certain lower speed kits, I doubt this is probably going to get resolved anytime soon (1701 came out, I believe, on 3/16 - So nothing in over 6 months).

Good luck. I know how frustrating this can be.
In dreams, I walk with you.
