Windows 10 and DTS Connect!

Yesterday I've updated to Windows 10, but I can't get DTS connect over S/PDIF to work. On 8.1 the S/PDIF and DTS connect were working perfectly, but not on Windows 10. I've installed the latest audio drivers from ASUS support site.

Using Windows 10 Update = not working DTS connect over S/PDIF after that I did clean Windows 10 install = not working DTS connect over S/PDIF. Total 6 clean installs until now with latest drivers from ASUS site, again clean install with latest Realtek drivers from their site, and again same procedure from newest drivers from station-drivers = not working S/PDIF and DTS connect. ASUS has to resolve this ASAP. I've tried another few clean installs with drivers from 8.1 that I know were working in Windows 8.1, but on Windows 10 is a no go.

Does DTS Interactive 5.1 for gaming still not work for everyone on Win 10? As a prior poster said, streaming an mkv works fine over optical for DTS, but the DTS Interactive 5.1 for gaming remains dysfunctional on mine (errors if you try to enable it) as we enter 2016 now. 😞

Mine fine now with win 10, DTS working, only issue is some games have slightly lower volumes. Easy to sort by turning up.
Some win insiders reporting issues again with later builds.
Using windows10 threshold 2 and Asus officials drivers.

Hope I can help. The MS fix to the audio stack was implemented in build 10586, if you are on a lower build, you'll need to upgrade. If you are running the newer RS1 insider builds, it is broken again.

Latest drivers from Realtek work, grab them direct from Realteks FTP site

ftp://spcust:hwwk758z@ftp3.realtek.com.tw/RealtekHDAudio-Beta-Drivers/Vista-Beta/

Once installed, you need to select DTS-Interactive from the advanced>default format (test is still only 2-ch), then tick DTS-Connect on the previous tab.

Works for me, please note that the volume on centre and left surround do not seem to be affected by the windows volume slider, fix is to change to 2-ch then back to DTS (after every reboot), so I leave it on 100% and use the amp to avoid further anger on this problem.

Lastly, some games will not output in 5.1 due to a xaudio2 bug in windows that hasn't been fixed for years (Witcher 3 is one of them for me). I've done the hex-edits as required, the DLL files need to be copied from the zip below into the c:\windows folder overwriting the existing broken ones.

Hope this fixes things for you as it did me.

Thanks Jezjohnson I thought mine was spot on except for few games. Had surround sound working over optic no issues but after seeing your post regarding Game sound I thought I would try your xAudio2 files. What a star thanks I have 5.1 in old doom 3 over SPDIF.
I no longer need to use my analogue 3 pin cables. (Doom 3 still makes me jump with all crazy sounds)

What if I'm not running any Preview Build?

Can anyone help?

I currently have the following issues:
- microphone volume too low in most applications
- Front Left speaker louder than the other speakers

With this setup:
Win10 Pro 1511
Asus Maximus Hero VI
Optical connection to receiver
Optical Audio Device set to use DTS Connect 5.1

I tried the both drivers currently available from Asus (Version 6.0.1.7525 and Version 6.0.1.7829) and several directly from Realtek. I also tried the generic Win10 driver.
Results:
- Asus Drivers have the above mentioned problems.
- Realtek Drivers don't seem work at all and the Audio management freezes.
- Generic Win10 driver doesn't have the above mentioned problems, but DTS Connect doesn't show up as default format, so no surround sound.

I don't want to fiddle around with Preview Builds of Win10 and I don't want to use registry hacks that disable Netflix and Amazon Prime playback.
So is buying a simple soundcard like an Asus Xonar DSX going to fix this? I'd still be using Win10 and the optical connection, but the Xonar is using a different chip with different drivers.
