Well, It all depends on what you are going to do for the most.
For gaming, a GTX980TI is a perfect choice, i would rather wait, and save up some money for the new Nvidia Pascal!

My pick would be GTX 980ti or Titan X, if you are gaming on a 4k monitor 2 cards would be better

TitanX is slightly better than 980Ti, if money is no object, lol. A 980Ti is a better choice economically, over 95% the performance for less than 75% the price of a TitanX.

Even the best of the AMD R9-3xx cards are sadly inferior to a 980Ti, if money is no object, lol. But great bang for the buck if absolutely ultra-extreme performance is not needed.

Without a doubt EVGA Kingpin edition 980Ti if you want to do a bit of overclocking...http://www.evga.com/articles/00944/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-980-Ti-KINGPIN/

If you're not into the overclocking thing... get a Titan X

I use 2 Titan X for 4K game play. Everything runs really well on it and more importantly for me, it is all virtually silent. No overclocking required.
