V10 Edition and how are Fan Headers Linked?

I recently swapped from a "normal" R5E to the V10 and the new Fan Expert (Version 4 now, not Version 3 like on the R5E) isn't working too well anymore.

Often when I reboot, the Fan Expert says "CPU fan has changed you need to re run auto tuning..." even though of course I have not changed the fans connected to the CPU header.

Also, how are the headers linked with respect to RPM control? I would guess, that like on the normal R5E, the CPU_OPT header is "slaved" to the CPU header. But what about the High_AMP and the Water_Pump? Are these slaved to each other? And what about the EXT_ plug? Its it independent ?

Thx for any info

You're right, all those headers are independent of each other. I find it much better setting up the controls via Qfan in bios.

Hey you 2 x helpful posters, thx.

Thx for the confirmation that these headers aren't "slaved" i.e. A master channel B slave channel like they were on the regular R5E.

Nope, didn't do an OS reinstall. Pulled out the R5E. Dropped in the R5EV10. Had to spend 200 bucks on a new Windows 10 Pro key because I lost my first one since it started with Win 7, upgrading to Win 8, then a free updgrade to Win 10. Well I guess now I finally now a full on Win 10 PRO cd key 🙂

I seemed to have somewhat "solved" the problem by pulling the fans that were on the CPU_OPT header and putting them on the EXT expansion card. Now all fans at least run at their previous selected RPM (and LED color scheme) after each reboot, however I still get the warning message from FanXpert 4 "Your CPU can has changed so you need to run fan tuning...." every reboot.

But at least they run a constant RPM.

I might nuke the entire Asus AI Suite package and try to set their RPM in the BIOS like Danny mentioned. Is there anything "useful" in the AI suite package I'd be missing out on if I dont install it? I cant think of anything I use off hand, except Fan Expert?

None, in my opinion.

I'm assuming there are registry entries from the Fan Expert 3 interfering. I don't think you need a full format but use the asus suite uninstaller, run it in safe mode and reinstall the asus suite 3 with fan expert 4 and you should be okay.
