Sem

I have a problem my 2nd row of back usb3 ports they are not working at all devices connected to them are totally dead in and out of windows

according to the manual these are ports USB3_E56_E78

the 4 above them and the 2 below are working fine not sure why these are not i checked the bios and those ports are showing up as enabled

i am using a 5930k have SLI 780s and a X-Fi Titanium HD in the bottom red slot X8_4 i also have 2 SSDS and 3 HDDs connected so maybe the board disabled them because i have too many devices?

tried both 0802 and 0901 bios

1 VGA GTX TitanX PCI-Express (on 1st pci-express red slot)
1 Xonar Phoebus (on pci-express black slot)
1 TP-Link GBE LAN (on the other pci-express black slot)
2 * 256 Gb SSD Samsung 850 Pro
2 * 512 Gb Velociraptor
PSU Corsair HX1000i Platinum
1 Logitech Comfort Keyboard USB
1 G9X Logitech Mouse USB
1 Samsung XPress C410W Laser Printer
1 Icy Box USB3 Docking Station

OS : Windows 10 (but even inside the bios USB3_E56_E78 ports don't seem to work).

I've tried to unplug everything and of course I tried to do Clear CMOS like flashing to a different bios.
The second USB3 Row (E56_E78) doesn't seem to work either in Bios or Windows. If I try to connect a keyboard
or mouse or pendrive or any other usb device, it doesn't happen anything.

This is the 2nd Rampage V Extreme (substitute to the 1st which had QCODE 14 76 error) and I don't want to waste my time doing a new RMA again. 😞

Have you tried disabling xHCI in the BIOS?

Yes but nothing changed. 😞

Any other ideas ?

You mentioned updating to another BIOS. Did you try the latest 1701 revision?

You could try ASUS support, but I think that guy is on vacation the next two weeks.

I'm very disappointed in Asus support.

My first Rampage V Extreme had QCode 13 (14) - 76 and I had to RMA it.
Now (after one week) I've mounted the new one (coming with USB3.1 addon pci-ex board)
and this issue, the same SEM had before and I'll never know if he has solved his own issues or not.

It can't be acceptable that someone spends a lot of money for such product and can experience such problems.

The only thing I'll do for sure is to "don't buy an Asus motherboard anymore". Simple and clear.

Hi.

I think this is an usual problem with RVE board.

I have had 3 boards. The first one died because of bios corruption. The second one had problems with usb and bios update and copy between the dual bios. The last one has problems with usb sometimes.

The usb ports usually failing are the ones near the lan port. Sometimes they work, sometimes don't.

I would try to enable always the Intel xhci mode and xhci handoff.

Would also try to install (or deinstall if already installed) the asmedia usb 3.0 driver. You can find the last version in station-drivers.com, in Asus Rampage V Extreme dedicated page.

Reinstalling Windows could be another option.

If this doesn't help, you should rma the board

Asus should make a version 2.0 of the board to solve these issues (usb's, bios corruption, dead cpu's). Or release earlier the black board version...

Best regards.

I have the same usb 3 problem with RIVBE the solution which worked unplugging the computer completely from power.

Cannot believe it...have the same issue by myself. The USBs in the same row as ETH port are dead. Not even a light blink when connecting things to them.

Will try the solutions posted here, but if that does not help, definitely RMA and moving to another brand (waiting for 3 weeks to get it repaired/replaced is not an option, not mentioning dissembling a perfect build).
This is really not acceptable for Asus and its high end line up.

Hi again, mates.

Received a new RVE today, after rma the last one because of bluetooth module, not working.

It came with Factory 1502 uefi, but like the other 4 RVE's, the usb's near Lan, and the ones connected to internal pins sometimes work, sometimes don't, depending on the connected pendrive.

The pendrive i use to test is a Sandisk Extreme 16 GB, ideal for thjs purpose.

Maybe the RVE is not able to handle all the usb ports properly, because of electrical hardware or asmedia expanders fault.
