RVE and Redstone 1 / bios

Hello,

I have a RVE 'original' with 2101 bios. 5930k. 32Gb Corsair.
Up til now i am running 1511 of windows 10 and i must say i am very pleased, all is working fine !
Now, i have tried 2x a Redstone 1 upgrade and to my surprise, i have had so much problems with it, i ended up restoring back to the 1511...
Problems :
- event errors and programs not starting like Distributed COM and security issues
- Networking errors (they fixed that)
- Explorer errors
- Slow login to (Password field not showing for quite some time)
- small delays
- I am aware of an issue with Kaspersky 16.01.445 (just now) and saw some fix from asus = what does this do? what does it alter?
now, on the second update to Redstone 1 (when networking issues were fixed) i did uninstall Kaspersky, so that is not the issue.
- i do not run Ai Suite III because i always believe while it provides many features, not running it smoothens my pc. believe it or not. (even had bsod)
- i use Macrium reflect, to my surprise, i had a gazzilion errors with VSS (even on other programs). It runs fine on 1511.
and all latest macrium updates were updated (with redstone support)

I have been running the latest drivers , and sticked with 2101 because to be honest, i read so much problems with all future bios's. Up til 3301.
If you do not have a Broadwell-E, is it worth having 3301 ? What is the conclusion now? Or is there a newer version coming very soon?
Mind that in 99.9 cases, i do not overclock, i am happy with the speeds i get for my purpose.

Thank you !
ps : FYI and off-topic, i switched after 4 RMA's my PQ27AQ 4K monitor (couldnt stand the bleed's), to an Eizo EV3237 = never regretted this in my life, amazing screen !

Sounds like you need to talk to Microsoft really 😮

Personally I would stay on 1151 if I had the choice, some people are saying that a clean install of the Anniversary Edition cures all the ills of the upgrade and I don't have any issue on my RVE with a clean install

off-topic - does anyone have an iso of build 1151?, I installed fresh from a DVD and it want's to update straight to 1407, Anniversary edition, if you download an iso from Microsoft it is the new version
Microsoft is as controlling as my last girlfriend but I can't leave Microsoft

Thanks Menthol for the reply.
As it turns out, i read that Microsoft is holding back on the anniversary edition through windows update. It will be on download in November, because of the many issues it had before.
And personally i think, it is not finished yet !! Even NTFS is buggy (explains my VSS and other explorer errors = even drives missing/unformatted error)
Also, i read on other topic that new BIOS is undergoing beta testing here. So i will wait.

Offtopic answer : you need the actual ISO at the time when that EXE downloader was available (create new media). If you are downloading the EXE now from microsoft, you are getting the redstone 1 update, i believe.
But i am sure there are mirrors to download the 1511 build 😉

My question was also, if the Redstone 1 problems are also related to the current RoG BIOS issues/Drivers/Tools? Like USB (fixed now with KB?)
Or if anyone know of ASUS RoG tools & drivers that are definately causing problems with Redstone 1 !
Thanks guys 🙂

It seems that Microsoft has tried again to push the AU to me again.
I have issues with Bluetooth, USB and DistributedCOM errors, as well as suddenly MicrosoftMAPS error and Corsair Link 4 errors (v4.3)
I cannot believe NOONE has issues with this? Bluetooth and USB can be related to ASUS drivers (not tested? on AU)
Some people (ref. Menthol) say it is better to reinstall Windows 10 AU from scratch, but WHY would you do that, if the previous build has NO errors whatsoever.
I also updated to latest hotfixes as of 09/22/2016 referring to 4K fixes and much more, but it all stays the same to me.
I also removed AV and others before upgrade, same result.
I also noticed UNKNOWN DEVICES (usb related such as corsair keyboard ??)
Is it normal to completely default my desktop settings after the upgrade, even the wallpaper is gone.

IF anyone has an idea? Or more input, please tell me. Are you all running on Redstone now? no problems??? i dont see them on forums !

Thanks.

I had a relatively clean install of a previous windows 10 pro build...AU update fried it.

Clean install of AU build and everything is OK. It is very common for these updates to fry OS despite what Microsoft claim...

The Microsoft "insider" monicker is nothing but clever marketing. It is simply beta testing. You are not getting first access to finished software...you are an unpaid tester...fine if you have the time and don't mind corruption of your OS and or system errors.
