Random restarts with 3009 and 3101

I have used every single bios extensively as they have been released; all on default settings. With bios 3009 and 3101, I am experiencing random, hard resets. This doesn't happen under load; it can happen even at idle or small load. Oddly, I didn't even have this issue with the beta 3008 bios. Any suggestions as I would like to keep my bios up to date.

I've not changed anything in the hardware or its configuration, but I did make one strategic change: I now disallow USB waking up the computer from Suspend, and resort to the power button (in both Linux and Windows).

The incidences of sudden crashes has decreased significantly - only one in the past week-to-10-days. Furthermore, the only issue I occasionally encounter has to do with suspend not resuming properly, but strangely enough that seems to only happen when I mistakenly try to wake the computer by USB, but then remember it's disabled and hit the power button.

This issue more and more seems to be related to the USB hardware...

I guess we will never know as they don't seem to care or even acknowledge that there is a problem and refuse to come to this thread ( I have asked them to come and have a look a few times )

Even sent a complaint not that that will do anything anyway i am at the stage where i almost have enough funds to get a new motherboard before it does any damage to other components like Hdd's,cpu or gpu after this i wont be getting asuck anytime soon.

So, update on my situation.

I decided to go ahead and RMA the board, processor, and video card. Intel was quick and sent replacement processor in 4 days. EVGA did a cross ship and sent me a replacement (however SLI is now lost - going from a 780 Ti setup to a single 980 GTX isn't quite an upgrade but take what I can get). ASUS (or should I say local contract facility in IN, USA) took over 2 weeks to send back the board. No information as to what was done or wrong. However, I was sent back the same board (SN match) and as others have noted the only thing I can tell they did - you guessed it, flashed 3402 on both BIOS chips! I sent it out with 1502 on both.

So, I began assembly yesterday with BRAND new RMA components. Less than 10 minutes after startup in OS and BLAMO, power out and restart. So, being the glutton for punishment, I let this go for another 3 hours until I said ENOUGH. The power out and restart occurred another 6 times over the 3 hour time frame.

I decided to go ahead and ditch the 3402 on BIOS 2 and flash 2101. Well that whole process was not seamless as after the CMOS reset, reading the 2101 BIOS, and doing the restart sequence for some reason 3402 STILL was on BIOS 2! So I do it again. The second attempt to flash held and reports as 2101. How the heck can a BIOS file be read and still flash itself as 3402 I don't understand. (Minor note to align with other reports that 2101 seems to have an issue logging boot order changes as changes in BIOS).

Well, 36 hours later and there has not been 1 restart yet (fingers crossed).

I understand the whole argument that "everyone's configuration is different" but this is insulting. There is something wrong with these new BIOS files that is not compatible.

I have been a fairly loyal ASUS supporter for years but failure to recognize this as an issue and provide a reasonable response is quite simply irresponsible.

I will reconsider my options in my next builds.

I am tired of messing around with this, but if this does not hold out, I will attempt the engineering 44 BIOS on BIOS 1.

I have these same problem since I own this board start from cold hard boot problems from bios 15XX to stability issue from overclocking, random restart, usb problems, Memory Problems, Fan Problems, broke down my samsung 850 SDD evo etc... lucky I'm still having the warranty and I'm not saving any data to my operating system drive.

I have tried every single bios Asus rampange V extreme has to offer my best bios before 3XXX are 1701, 2001 after the 3XXX update everything seems to be broken I cant find the right setting for my O.C random freeze hapeen even if i revert back to 1701, 2001 bios

My system are i7 5930k @4.4 Ghz 1.275V vcore @4.3 uncore 1.385V with AIO cooler, corssair 2666 mhz 15-18-18-36 T1 @ 1.350 volt, 3 way 980ti

The only bugging thing are now since the 3XXX bios update are
The Adaptive voltage in bios and C-State combaine always makes the system freeze when Overlock no matter what bios that I used and what input voltage that I used !!!

Turn off Adaptive voltage and C-sate setting in the bios make my computer on overclocking become rock stable 24/7
but the cons are quite high temp and high consumption's. PLZ Fix this Or I'l never buy porduct from you again next time I have spent 3000 USD+ on my rigs and this is what I get *F

one other things seems like the Asus AI suite 3 have some bugs problems too I can do switch from performance setting to power saving makes my computer clock from 4.4 ghz to 800ghz all the time but not vice-versa when I click back the performance its stay back in 800 mhz until I adjust manually in the TPU setting and sometimes makes the computer freeze hangs too. my version are the latest AI 3 with dual intelligent process 5 1.03.50

I am currently trying the new 3501. It will be interesting to see if this one has whatever "fixes" are in the 0044 beta bios. If this one gives me restarts, I fear I may be stuck on the beta bios forever, and (probably) with no real explanation. It could be worse, I suppose. Again, I still have random double pumps at startup, but that's been there and doesn't appear to affect anything.

Credit where credit is due: I have had no restarts with 3501 so far. The fact that it has gone this long is a very good sign. This is on default settings except for custom fan profiles.

One would also hope that they would disclose details of what the problem was, but this is unlikely... Though I for one will be happy to be made a liar of on this point 🙂
