Rampage V Extreme (X99) Naughty Bios?

Hi Everyone,

Just asking around to see if anyone know’s of any issues with the last 2 bios updates for
Rampage V

Been using bios RAMPAGE V EXTREME/U3.1 BIOS 1801 from 2015/12/21
Happily with no issues at all. Noticed asus has managed to release a few updates over the year and I thought I’d take the plunge to the latest version which is
RAMPAGE V EXTREME BIOS 3301 (key point being) Improve system compatibility.

Who doesn’t want Improve system compatibility? So, lets do this!
So at 12pm on Saturday I start the flash., Everything goes like a charm.

Fast forward 8 hours.
Complete system shutdown with no warning. Then after 3 seconds pc boots up just like I’ve performed a restart. Without the restart process started
This happened for a few days, with no particular time frame in mind. So I’ve checked all power cables to be sure,
They’re all in tight and snug, my pc doesn’t move as its heavy and place well with great cooling.
So after checking everything to make sure it wasn’t a loose connection I’ve not changed the bios to

RAMPAGE V EXTREME BIOS 3202 to see if this has any effect.
Again, power off and restart just like 3301. This happened for a few days and I’ve now moved back to my original
Bios from 2015.

Just wondering if anyone has been going through something similar or know something about this?

All the best

yes....there is lots of bios issues with this board. If you google it you will see many people have had the restart issue.. I have solved my problems with a bios I found a link to on these forums. bios is number 0044. it has fixed the restart issues. And now my pc is very stable and running great.

If you cant find the 0044 bios then using the 2001 bios was also said to be very stable. apparently the more recent 3*** bios's are not very good if using a 5***k chip.

haha I found the link for the bios http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?85355-Random-restarts-with-3009-and-3101&p=613536&viewfull=...

I am using this bios on the rampage v extreme and not the extreme /u3.1 board. I don't know if you can use it on both boards bit I am sure some one on here will know.

This is a clear example of if it's not broken, don't fix it. Use the USB BIOS Flashback method to downgrade your BIOS back to 1801 since your system is stable with that particular revision. Unless the newer BIOSes offer a functionality that you plan on using, I don't see the next to touch your BIOS.
