Rampage V Extreme (non Edition 10) Meltdown/Spectre Bios update

As per the title, I see from here https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2 Asus has provided only X99 bios (microcode) updates for the Strix and the Extreme V Edition 10. I do not fancy rebuilding my entire system around an Edition 10 purely to somewhat mitigate Meltdown/Spectre as my X99 system has been running happily overclocked and stable for years.

Can I use the Edition 10 bios on my 1st gen Rampage V Extreme mobo? I am completely out of the loop on systems/motherboards these days, and only look into hardware when I do a new build.

Thanks.

Last reply I got from Asus (in january) was that there will be a BIOS update. They were probably just waiting for Intel to fix a final release of the microcode and are hopefully testing it now.

Unfortunately, they won't (or not before a long long time).
We're in april now and Intel fixed the issue on march 12th but Asus haven't released an updated BIOS yet for the x99 family except for the "Strix X99 Gaming" and since it's the same microcodes that's what makes me think they won't.

Personally, I followed this tutorial to update the microcode manually, so far no issues (it takes more time to read it than doin it), and the day Asus realeases a new BIOS update (if they do) I'll update it, until then I'm covered.

That is the board I have and I don't see any update for it. The latest BIOS is 1801 which is from December and doesn't have any fix for this.

Sorry, my bad I was looking at the x299 page, so the situation is worse than I imagined.
Even though, Asus is planning to do (or already have done) an update for the Strix and the Edition 10 according to this news of their own (but there's no mention of the other boards of the x99 family.

I think all future buyers should learn this lesson about what the ASUS premium price tag buys you in terms of support. The question is, will they? We tend to be awfully short sighted when the next new shiny thing comes along. And, of course, that's why ASUS feels free to behave this way.

I for sure know that if they don't do anything my next rig won't be a RoG or an Asus

This is a pretty serious issue....What is the best way for us to pressure Asus?

at the moment there's no bios update for Z97/X99 for Asus' mainboards, and there's an unclear (not to say poor) communication.
Apparently, they only intend to update (some day) the X99 Strix and the Edition 10.

EDIT :
There's a new Beta BIOS for the Strix X99, Rampage V Extreme (Normal and Edition 10), but it isn't clear what's new on them (no changelog)
