Rampage V Extreme (non Edition 10) Meltdown/Spectre Bios update

As per the title, I see from here https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2 Asus has provided only X99 bios (microcode) updates for the Strix and the Extreme V Edition 10. I do not fancy rebuilding my entire system around an Edition 10 purely to somewhat mitigate Meltdown/Spectre as my X99 system has been running happily overclocked and stable for years.

Can I use the Edition 10 bios on my 1st gen Rampage V Extreme mobo? I am completely out of the loop on systems/motherboards these days, and only look into hardware when I do a new build.

Is there any update on this? It seems Intel just went silent and everyone forgot about it? Asus isn´t offering an updated Bios so far and I am a bit concerned if there ever will be one.

I don't know about ASUS but Intel did update this pdf and the "Haswell Perf Halo" microcode is now in the 'Beta' stage, in the previous version of this pdf it was only in the 'Planning' stage.

I've been looking at this doc, it was updated this past Monday (Feb 26). Here's what it said:

Haswell Perf Halo -- Intel® Core™ Extreme Processor (5960x, 5930x, 5820x) -- 40661 -- 32 -- Production --- --- 0x19

So, instead of "Beta", it now says "Production". What does that mean in terms of actually getting an updated BIOS?

I think that every CPU that's supported by the RVE had its new ucode marked as production in the document (which is no longer available for some reason), so it's up to ASUS now...

My Spectre Meltdown CPU Checker show Error... 😄



I check with some other software and he say I have Installed Meltdown protection.
Now I must see how Windows Installed that without my permission and to disable...



Do you know maybe number of update installed as Meltdown protection??
Intel and Microsoft gone to far... I prepare important updates for Windows 10 Pro 1507 or first version and next time Complete Windows Update will be disabled.

I just picked a quick view on MSI and Gigabyte sites they've update all of their x99 catalogue, so I guess that Asus has abandoned (once again) its products (and us) 😞

Last time I have bought anything from this company. I got disappointed so many times now by ASUS that I´d rather cut my hand off than buy even a screw from them again.
My board is still under warranty but hey, why would they bother.
