Rampage V Extreme (non Edition 10) Meltdown/Spectre Bios update

As per the title, I see from here https://www.asus.com/News/V5urzYAT6myCC1o2 Asus has provided only X99 bios (microcode) updates for the Strix and the Extreme V Edition 10. I do not fancy rebuilding my entire system around an Edition 10 purely to somewhat mitigate Meltdown/Spectre as my X99 system has been running happily overclocked and stable for years.

Can I use the Edition 10 bios on my 1st gen Rampage V Extreme mobo? I am completely out of the loop on systems/motherboards these days, and only look into hardware when I do a new build.

Thanks.

What's the rush? The current microcode will be being updated shortly once again as there are some issues. Please stop nagging 😄

I don't mean to nag, I just wanted some form of communication as to what is going on.

For you guys with the RVE (non-edition 10) I modded BIOS 3801 with the updated microcode for HW-E and BW-E. Flashed and confirmed working. Use USB Flashback method. Enjoy.

This is pretty awesome...Where did you get the microcode from? How did you mod the bios? Isn't it a binary file?

Any noticeable hiccups/slowdowns?

Thanks for your work!

If you go to walmart.com and search rampage v extreme they seem to still be selling them. I'm not sure how Asus could get away with not supporting them.

Hello guys out there....
I got a Rampage V Edition 10 Mobo, and it's working perfectly with the new BIOS Update V1801.

I did same mod on 2101 but my PC is slower than 3A microcodes. Also the bootime is longer with 3B instead of 3A,
so I don't care about Spectre vulnerability. All I really want is a stable and fast PC.

Do you mind posting the 2101 with 3B and 3A microcode?
The official 2101 has a old microcode 2D.

Thank you.

I already mod 2101 bios with 3B microcode but doing this, as already done from Chris123NT makes my PC slower than the same bios with 3A microcode,
so I think that's the reason why Asus has not released an official updated version yet and I suggest you to wait for a new microcode update fix.

I understand that microcode 3B is not fully stable and we have to wait for an updated microcode from Intel, in the mean time can you post bios 2101 with 3A which is latest stable microcode.
Thank you.
