I found new bios 3801 for R5E on the ASUS web site.
The release date was 01 Dec 2017. It seems that the change log was almost same but They must have fixed several issues.

1. Change log (from ASUS web site)
- Improved DRAM stability
- Fix Logitech devices issue.
- Fix Intel I211 Lan issue

2. download link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2011/Rampage_V_Extreme/RAMPAGE-V-EXTREME-ASUS-3801.zip

Just checked, and I can't tell which version of "Flashback" anyone in this thread was referring to. Report whether you were using "ROG Connect" or "AI Suite" version. I'm betting you were referring to the AI Suite version, yes? Or is there a third Flashback method out there?

Hm...Now I think 3701 will be the last bios I set.Working without any issues.I really afraid of burning down my 5960X.

Hi Everyone,
I just talked to a colleague of a friend of mine who is a Hardware Retailer here in Portugal, and he says that Intel will discard any responsibility over what happened to the Cpu.
This is his opinion... let's see what Intel has to say.
The big problem is that I will only get an answer from Intel within a week or more..
Now with Christmas coming ... just in 2018 I will have answers.

This append to more people.. No one here from Asus to give an opinion on the subject?

Hello fellow R5E'ers. Since this thread started I have been checking ASUS main support site http://support.asus.com and the latest BIOS they show is 3701. What is the site download link: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...-ASUS-3801.zip where you obtained vers 3801? After reading about your misfortunes with dead CPUs after vers 3801, I am scared off 3801for now. But I am curious what is that dlcdnet site? Could vers 3801 be a beta testing version, not yet released?

No sir, I won't! It appears that ASUS didn't roll out the BIOS update everywhere. BIOS 3801 appears on ASUS Australia support site but not ASUS US.
I hope that those who lost their CPUs will get a replacement without charge.

Always flash via usb using rog connect port on back of mobo, never had an issue doing it this way. I've flashed 3801 4 times now without any issues at all.

I figured out why I couldn't find BIOS 3801 on the ASUS US site: it is listed only for the R5E. If you search for the newer R5E/U3.1 then the latest BIOS is 3701. Maybe this is just an oversight on ASUS part? I had thought the only difference between R5E and R5E/U3.1 was the inclusion of the PCIe card for providing two rear USB 3.1 ports at 10gbps. Either (1) there ARE differences between the two boards (which may explain the dead cpus?) or (2) ASUS forgot to provide a link to 3801 on the R5E/U3.1 support page. Any thoughts?
