Curious why would you go from 5930k to 6850k? Isn't it a minor upgrade?

I was able to sell my 5930K for $450 CND, and buy a BNIB 6850K for $400 CND (on Craigslist). So basically made $50 on the slight upgrade 😉

It also handles higher memory frequencies and densities much better than the 5930K.

Are you using Win10? If so, did you have any issues with activation and the new CPU? I know that a new motherboard will throw the activation flag, but I have heard conflicting stories about if a CPU change will cause any activation problems.

I am using Windows 10 Pro Retail. No activation issues at all. I've swapped pretty much every part on my computer, from which Windows 10 was originally installed on.

I think it depends if you have the retail version or OEM. I beleive OEM locks you to the motherboard. Retail is unlocked, anything can be changed and transfered to any computer.

Hey,

Just installed it, i had to spare time and felt like switching from 2*** to 3**** series and i must say it went quite well. I remember when i got the board we were at 5** or 6** series for the bios and god damn it was annoying and such a pain just to get your ram to work at desired speeds. Right now, i feel the board is very very well balanced and quite stable. I must say thank you to asus for bringing us so many bios updates that right now i would recommend nothing other than asus for mobos :).

Cheers.

Hello,

Yes it is worth noting that i was able to use the 100mhz strap on 2*** and now can't. I've tried many time and i can't really go over 2400/2666mhz on 100mhz now. Must use the 125mhz. I don't really mind but i can understand people that want to use adaptive voltage or other options to be pissed.

I ended up trading my 5930K with a 5960X gold chip and i can run my memory on 3200mhz on this bios again, so the issue related to how the bios is handling the IMC on the CPU.

Same happend to me. With my 6960x instead of my 5960x I can run my Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB 3466mhz kit with 3200mhz CL14 1T.

Hi! After I applied the 3504 BIOS update all my temperatures in AI Suite and AIDA64 went up by almost 10ºc. Anyone have the same issue? I can't trust my motherboards temperature sensors like this *cry*

Has anyone else had USB hub instability with this latest BIOS? If I plug in a high demand item, I tend to lose the entire root hub and lose all my devices. Any suggestions?
