RAMPAGE V EXTREME MOTHERBORD b1 error code, monitor no signal.

Hi there....

I have built a PC end of 2015 and I have a ASUS RAMPAGE V EXTREME motherboard fitted. Occasionally there have been cases where upon powering up the PC the screen will remain blank with a no signal message displayed and an error code b1 will be displayed by the motherboard LED.

One occasion I had this problem so I believe I either restarted or took out the CMOS button (the first a friend I believe took it out or pushed the button on the motherbord for around 5 secs or so and rebooted the motherboard); the second more recently where I was unable to find the button on the motherboard but I pushed the CMOS button at the back of the panel of the tower which I found. However prior to this I could not find a solution and I used to unplug the power cable hold down the power button for a minute or so and then plug back in the power cable and turn the computer on. This also used to work for me...........

Now I have realised that every so now and again this problem will arise BUT I am unable to find a permanent fix for this problem; I have looked on various forums and some of the solutions were a bit too technical for my understanding and some did not work for me though they worked for other people.

Hence I now seek some help into anyone that may be able to help me with this problem; and would really appreciate any help from you tech experts on here......

Thanks for your reply.....I have been thinking of doing this but I am not sure how to do this; I mean I went on the ASUS website but I wasn't sure what I needed to download as there were a whole lotta files on there......

Look under Others than BIOS.

Put the file on a FAT32 formatted USB pendrive and use the EZ Flash Utility inside the BIOS for the update.

Try turning off Hibernation in Windows 10.
In an elevated command prompt, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.

powercfg -h off Reboot.

This will also turn off Fast Start in Windows 10. It won't make any difference to boot time. Can cure a wealth of boot problems if using EUFI bios.

The admin command prompt is only.

powercfg -h off

The first step is to make sure you have the latest bios. Try that first as suggested.

I have gone on the ASUS website, clicked others, BIOS and have received these options below:

And it gives me 2 options on the left of the screen which are:

So I am unsure as to what approach I should use.

Go to https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/RAMPAGE_V_EXTREME/HelpDesk_Download/

Select OS used, scroll down to bios and choose latest.

Follow Chino's advice by extracting zip file to fat32 formatted USB drive, and use EZ Flash Utility in bios to update.

If you want more info on updating bios please search these forums; there is plenty of advice. Or search the Asus website, etc

If you are still not happy to upgrade bios then try my suggestion on removing Hibernation. You won't do any harm.

Should you want to re enable hibernation use the admin cmd prompt and use

powercfg -h on

Then Reboot
