Q code 53 with 128gb ram kit

Just jumped the gun and bought the Corsair vengeance lpx 128gb kit CMK128GX4M8A2400C14.

Their website states that the kit is compatible with the R5E, but I cannot make the system post. I am stuck with Q code 53 no matter what ram configuration I try. Yes I have tested every single stick in every single slot, and yes I did push them all the way in so that I heard it click. And no the slots aren't damaged (at least the red ones) I tested my old crucial 32gb kit on the red slots and the system went into BIOS just fine. My CPU is the 5960x and I have flashed the latest BIOS 1401.

I also sent a ticket to Corsair support (they don't even have this kit listed in their ticketing system yet), but telling me to run memtest86 and check for errors when I can't even POST isn't really helpful.

So any recommendations on what I should do now? Wait for a new BIOS update from ASUS? Return and exchange the kit? RMA?

Please help me out...

List your complete system specifications for me please. Be as detailed as possible.

When your system is stucked at the 53 QCODE, does any of the QLEDs remain lit as well? Also have you tried using 4 of the 8 modules from the 128GB kit in the red memory slots to see if your system would post?

My "system" is basically the motherboard sitting on top of its cardboard box since my case hasn't arrived and I'm testing all of my components first.
The only things I have in the system are:
i7-5960x (Brand new, never overclocked)
Corsair H110 AIO watercooler pulled from another system, pump plugged into CPU FAN header, two fans connected to a splitter into CPU OPT
Rampage V Extreme BIOS 1401 (bought it around January and barely used it till now, never touched anything in the BIOS)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 2400 128gb kit bought from newegg (Each with serial number 15200151164214 to 15200151164221 exactly 😎
Asus GTX 750ti spare card I had lying around just to have a video output (waiting for my Titan X to come)
Corsair AX1500i PSU with only 24pin, 8pin cpu, and 6pin pcie plugged in (Brand new)

Nothing else is in my system, no hard drives no other pcie cards etc.

When the board is stuck at QCODE 53, the second QLED (labled DRAM_LED I believe) remains lit.

I just tried 4 modules (serial 14, 15, 16, 17) in the 4 red slots and I still get QCODE 53, and the system won't post.

Hi, I have same motherboard, CPU and RAM and also getting the code "53". I contacted Corsair Helpdesk amd got following answers:

"OK I've heard back from our product manager,
They're in contact with ASUS and ASUS is about to release a new BIOS that should support these 16GB sticks. They may have been delayed (ASUS). The BIOS that our engineers test with here is just a release candidate bios (beta). It is not available to the public.
I'm sorry that I don't have an immediate solution for you at this moment but we're left waiting for ASUS to provide the BIOS in the meantime."

and whet I asked about ETA:

"They might be behind schedule. So we should expect a rollout imminently"

Thank you so much for this info. I guess the only thing we can do is just sit back and wait for a new BIOS.

Good thing I'm not in a hurry, still got probably a month left till my case gets here.

It would be nice to get an estimate for the new BIOS from ASUS directly. Does anybody know where to ask?

For all the interested parties, the new BIOS is currently being evaluated in the lab. If all goes as planned, it will be released in a few weeks. I'll let you guys know when it's available. 🙂

lol, is it too much to ask for some of the 128GB DDR4 lab testing to involve E5-16xx-3 processors?

I wonder if the next new BIOS to be released will also have the newest Intel CPU microcode.

The latest Intel CPU microcode for the X99 platform as far as I know is MU063F0231.

The one in the current latest BIOS 1401 is MU063F022D which is older than the one above.
Intel i7 5960X @ OC 4.5GHz, Asus R5E, XSPC AX360, G.Skill Ripjaws 4 16GB DDR4-3000MHz, BeQuiet 1200W PSU, Cooler Master Cosmos 2, Zotac GeForce GTX 980 AMP, Creative X-Fi Titanium, 2 X Samsung 840 EVO 250GB RAID 0, 2 X Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB RAID 0, LG BH10LS30
