Post cycles 4 times before going into windows

Hey!

My posts cycles 4 times before going into windows and i was wondering could it be because i have disabled (in dram timings) fast boot/attem fast cold boot and disabled fast boot (in boot options) + have forced memory training (remove auto and using enabled).
Wondering what are your thoughts on this. Should i post a video ?

Thanks

Max

Post a video if you can. 😛

Hey,

Ask and you shall receive. It is quite clear the the boot sequence goes through 4 times and the 4th one is the one that actually gets to the windows handoff.

Have you tried clearing your CMOS to see if this happens at stock settings?

Hey,

As i said in first post it happens when i "disabled (in dram timings) fast boot/attem fast cold boot and disabled fast boot (in boot options) + have forced memory training (remove auto and using enabled).". But it isn't doing that on 1701. Is there something special about ram that has changed in between ?

Thanks,

Max

why did you do that? set it to default. theres almost no reason to disable/enable it except when youre benching maybe- especially cold boot. (thats for "sub-zero cold" afaik  )
idk if theres any change, but the later the bios the easier it is for me to oc my ram. im running 2400mhz xmp ram at 3000mhz 1.35v rock stable, but only at 1902 and later. 1802 and below can run it at 2800mhz max and wont even boot with 1.5v at 3000mhz.

Hey,

Since i am in the process of tuning new ram, i don't want the boot sequence to skip memory training or any other training. It never did that on 1701. I'm wondering if it is normal for a 32gb kit on 1902 and if it is dangerous for the system somehow. I don't care if it rolls 4 times, as long as it is not killing my cpu or ram.

im on 1902 and have a 32gb kit too, i didnt change anything on those settings but overclocked my ram by 600mhz and tweaked primary timings. no problems with post.

Hey,

Well if you've had this configuration for quite a while then what i'm doing doesn't apply to your situation. But i thought since it is new ram i had to put it through training and make sure it passes with the timings i want (aiming for 2750mhz@cas 12-13-13-33-1T like my 16gb kit). Fast booting and auto options on memory features might skip tests that would detect instability. Well that's what i'm thinking right now. I might be wrong though and all this might be useless since you clearly obtained nice results. The beauty with this board is to fiddle with it, play with it and try to learn the features everytime i get a new part. I hate "auto" options :(.

Thanks,

Max

just because you can doesnt mean you should touch every setting. those settings are meant to be as they are on default. you can change them to troubleshoot stuff. auto options are pretty good on asus boards, they know what theyre doing especially on the extreme boards. no problem with faith in auto settings mate.
