for whatever reason this forum will not let me reply to your reply about my internet connection. the device manager shows that the intel ethernet connection 1218-v is up to date. i am using a cat 5 cable directly to the router, under other devices there is no driver for the 690lc and no driver for "network controller" I cannot find either anywhere. the cd that came with the motherboard cannot be read for whatever reason. i have the netwok and sharing center open and it intermittently connect to the netwoek sometimes for 5-10 minutes and then sometimes for only seconds. then it goes dead for 5-10 minutes at a time. i have tried disabling and enabling the netowrk controller any other ideas?
Did you try to download driver from site for Rampage 5 Extreme. I use 19.1.51.0 driver. Never mind CAT5, CAT6 it's same for us... When I installed Windows and finish with all network, bluetooth and wifi driver installation I turn on router and he set everything auto and connection show up after 1min... You should see icon like this in Network and Sharing center...
the only difference in my setup is that i have a red x through the "local area connection." I am downloading the new driver now, will see if it works. Yes, I did a diagnose, it says that there is no cable plugged into the ethernet port. Of course there is. The wierd thing is it detects and works intermittently.
I went on the asus website and downloaded the new network driver. It is version 20.1.2019.0. Once it installs I go to device manager and the driver version is 12.12.218.0 - totally different. So, asus wants me to install one driver, bu the system is somehow not letting me do it. Network is still running intermittenly - works for 5 minutes then shuts down for 5 minutes. Went through this with asus tech support for hours today. RMA'd one board - bought another board - SAME PROBLEM. It is clearly a driver issue. Also when the adapter is working I am only getting 10mbps download speed while if I plug the very same cat5 cable into my other computer I get 70mbps. What the hell is going on? Has anyone else with a rampage v had problems with windows 10?
The default driver that comes with Windows 10 is 12.12.50.6
The latest one from the Support Page is 12.12.218.0
And the latest from Intel is 12.13.17.4
Try the following to see if it fixes your issue. 1. Uninstall the driver. 2. Disable the LAN adapter in the BIOS. 3. Reboot to safe mode and remove all traces of the driver with Driver Sweeper. 4. Re-enable the LAN adapter. 5. Install the driver you downloaded.
Ok, I will try this. Asus had me wipe my drives and install 8.1. That didn't work of course. The next thing they told me is that the motherboard is probably grounding. I isolated the motherboard and of course that was a goose chase as well. I will try the driver sweeper and report back.
Here are the newest solutions from Asus - which of course aren't working. They had me reinstall 8.1. Then I stripped out all my hard drives exept one and only one video card as well. I wiped the partitions and did a clean install.
I am getting intermittent connectivity. The LAN seems to be stuck at 10mbps. I should be getting 100. I have tried to change the control panel from auto detect to 100 full duplex, this causes the connection to drop. When i run a diagnose on the lan connection it says "Link partner not capable of higher speeds."
Before you jump to any conclusions about that message - I built this new system 3 days ago and my old system is sitting right next to it. If I pull the same ethernet cable out of the new and back into the old it works perfectly and I get download speeds of 80+Mbps (over fios).
So, it is not the router, it is not the cable. There is some hardware or driver issue going on. I have talked to Asus for three days about this and they FINALLY escalated it. Oh and one of the more comical suggestions was to isolate the motherboard outside the system to check if it was grounding. Of course that was a collosal waste of time.
Any help or suggestions I will try! I am losing faith in Asus at this point. Ah, one last point if I hadn't mentioned it before. The chances of this being a bad lan adapter out of the box are about as likely as being mauled by a polar bear and a regular bear on the same day. This is the second mobo with the exact same problem.
