Hello!

I need some help and advice, on wish ram would be the best to upgrade to. if it's worth upgrading offcourse 😛

currently im using Crusial Ballistix sport DDR4 2400mhz 16gb Quad channel ram with 16-16-16-35 timing

i want the best ram with best performance in the 2400mhz line

i'm looking at

Kingston HyperX 16 GB DDR4-2400 Quad-Kit 12-13-13-33 for 122euros wish is cheap and fast timings.
G.Skill 16 GB DDR4-2400 Quad Kit Timings: CL14 14-14-34

would i see an improvement in speed with games and overall experience? compared to my ballistix what im using right now?

i could go higher speeds like 2666mhz, 2800mhz or 3000mhz but only if it benefits overall usage.

im using a 32gb g.skill ripjaws 4 2400mhz cl15-15-15-T2 kit for example and its running rockstable at 3000-15-17-17-T2 using 1.35v
as for everyday usage i dont feel a difference, in some games i can tell the difference of the higher frequency, but its only in mmos where a lot of ppl are at the same place, the minimum fps is about 15fps higher than with frequency at stock, thats a lot imho since im using the pg348q and want to keep it all the time at 100fps. but for max fps it does nothing.

You'd have to set it and see....lots of different XMP profiles out there.

When you set XMP the BIOS will give you a list of exactly what has been changed....scroll through it and see if it's playing with anything that it shouldn't be.

I prefer setting up manually myself

I just installed my new Gskill DDR4 3000mhz kit, and booted up without any problems. i've enabled XMP and no problems either.
now i just want to know if the settings are good or to high? if to high then what would i need to try to lower.

I have this kit paired with a 5930k. What settings are you using?

i tried to lower my SA from 1.16v to 0.850 and it's still rock stable with XMP @ 3000 and everything else on auto 😄 it looks like a got a decent IMC ^^

Nice!

One question...why set max cache to 24...best leave that to auto so it scales up to 35 same as core....

Definitely don't forget to let the cache breathe. But....

I haven't looked too hard into this phenomenon but with 5920 and 5960x2 they don't seem to want to run at 1:1

Even at rates they can handle otherwise. For instance I run 4.6/4.2. If I put them both at 4.2 I often see instability or lower performance

Given that someone has to program various fifo/buffering/wait state values to account for core vs uncore I can imagine a multitude of explanations for this but curios to see if others have seen the same.
