G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3000

Greetings,

I just purchased and installed the newest of G.Skill's Ripjaws V series (32GB), rated at 3000Mhz, CL15, and 1.35v (F4-3000C15Q-32GVR). After applying XMP in the BIOS (1502), the board applies 1.4v on all DRAM channels. I emailed G.Skill, and they stated XMP should be at 1.35v and denied any issues with its RAM.

Anyhow, I ran Memtest86, Realbench, and AIDA64 for several hours with no issues running at 1.4v. And yes, I know it's not on the QVL (yet), and yes, I know I can manually enter the voltages in.

Anyone else run into this issue or have any theories? (or situation, because as of now, besides the 1.4v, everything seems to run fine)

Ripjaws V are designed for the Z170 platform. Some incompatibilities may occur when used on other platforms. One can always manually set the desired voltage if so inclined.

Try a manual setup instead of using XMP.

The attached email is what assured me it would work...but I guess, oh well. The selection for X99 memory isn't the greatest, and after almost a year, it hasn't got much better.

Give it time for DDR4 to mature and you'll see more offerings. As a matter of fact, G.Skill has done a pretty good job with their portfolio since you can find kits ranging from 2133MHz to 3400MHz or 8GB to 128GB. 😛

As said earlier, try setting up your RAM manually and you should be fine.

If I'm not mistaken isn't the V series all Samsung chips? Anyway what blck did XMP set 100 or 125? just curious to know, they also have a 3600mhz kit.

Yes, the newer G.Skill kits use Samsung chips, exclusively from what I read. Setting XMP boosted the BLCK to 125, as was expected. Apparently the new Trident Z series that are coming out can hit 4000Mhz.

The high speed kits are 4GB modules only. Not a cost effective solution for daily use.

I think we have the same memory, this is what I have- G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4-24000) Desktop Memory Model F4-3000C15Q-32GRK.
My memory is running at full speed 3000mhz with XMP @ 1.35v. Not 1.40v. Everything is fine, I checked with CPU-Z and it's running at 3000.
